I would like to see MLS have a shooting(mph)(accuracy), sprinting(60yds) and Jumping(vertical leap) contests at the all-star game......none of those silly games they play, like soccer volley-ball.
NONE OF THE ABOVE. Its the parking guy at Gillette stadium. Ya.................... if you try and park in P8 or P9 (Patriots lots opened on NFL days) he will do an impression of Carl Lewis by running up that little hill at around 40 mph waving a red flag shouting and also barking into a walkie talkie that someone (ie ME) has had the audacity to park somewhere where his little red flag-flag didn't point us. Oh ya and he can yell at you in Spanish or English. Its actually pretty impressive.
zach thornton after he gets scored on... sure, he only goes about 10 feet... but dammit, i think he could maintain it to get the dude that scored on him
I don't know. I don't think so. I think Watson may give that impression because he never seems to stop running. At the US Open Cup match against the Rapids, back when Tarley was with the Thunder, I swear Hunter Freeman crapped his pants over how fast Tarley was. It was on artificial turf + the ball was going out and out of no where Tarley chased it down and kept it in. I think the thing with Tarley is he can be pretty quick to accelarete. The problme is, Ellinger couldn't figure out how to take advantage of that if his job depended on it.
it would have been nice if this was two polls.. fastest man and fastest man with a ball at his feet. anyways... when I saw the thread title I figured it was specualtion but hoping someone had some real timings. anyone got any real timings in the 40 or 60 for MLS guys?
He may be. But part of that I think is that Tarley didn't get very much service last year that was suited to letting him take advantage of his speed. Think of it, how many nice through balls did he get that he could run on to? The service out of the midfield wasn't good to start with and those didn't help. Scralett out wide lets him be more suited to making some runs. But Scarlett may be faster. I'd love to see the MLS release some stats on how fast they can run a 40.
haha, thanks for this post. could be the best ever. big zach does for sure run after dudes that score on him as if they were a triple cheeseburger!
i see walker won the poll, but according to the United technical staff one of the rookies this year is the fastest on the side. i'm sorry i forget which one.
I think they're talking about Stephen deRoux. That kid is a rocket. I saw him in the reserve match on FSC. The kid just blazed past everyone on the pitch.
deRoux is not a rookie, he played for the reserves last year. it definitely wasn't him that was mentioned. he is pretty fast though.
Paul Broome (cue laughter) When he signed with RSL, he claimed he ran a 3.9 40. If I had a link, I'd post it. Of course, that was probably 10 years ago and before all his injuries.
