    Re: mls fantasy leagues?

mfls.com is a favorite. Fantasy owner will an open draft and points for statistical events. It opens March 9th.

BTW, for those who know; the salary cap has risen and "no apperance" negative points have been eliminated.

goalleague.com is a score prediction league. It starts March 17th for the CONCACAF Cup.

futbolsa.com is a zero-sum stock market type competition where you can buy, sell, or short shares of every team and "draw" for each game around the world. As an example: DAL@KC might open with KC at 45, DAL at 20, and DRAW at 35. Every buy and sell pushes the prices according to demand. The market on each closes one hour pre-game. If the final is 2:1 KC, the shares close out at KC-100, DAL and DRAW-0.

The interesting part comes in by "shorting" DAL for as much as you can before then purchasing all the KC TO WIN shares. get paid for the value of DAL shares loaned out (you would be negative x shares DAL) and then leverage the money to buy KC. All the shares of KC go from 40 to 100.

    Hopefully.

If you get big enough, you can start to make your own markets, just like real life. Depending on the market you might be able to get out of a position at a guaranteed profit previous to a game.

Potential blowouts will feature an additional choice of x by more than 1 goal, 2 goals, etc. The site also markets things like league champs, tourney champs, and top goal scorers from around the world.

    Re: Re: mls fantasy leagues?

It's a nice idea, but I think that hurts the more active managers in MFLS. Cause now teams that keep the same lineup will not lose points if their player does not play that week for whatever reason. I just think that taking away the no apperance negative points is helping those that don't change their lineups.

You're exactly right. And I don't like it. The appearance points is probably half the reason I've been in the top 2-3 the last three years. This alone will definitely make the tables much tighter this season. And unless the salaries have increased, why the hell do we need to increase the cap. Hell last year if you looked at the top 5 teams in our division they all basically had the same core lineup. If the cap increases too much we'll all just be able to buy all the best players.

BTW, who's going to start our league? And who's going to play? Who ever runs the league I'd like to make a suggestion. I'd like to see that all the "regulars" (i.e. those of us who have played together for a few seasons in a row now) all get in the same league. Everyone who's going to play let us know in here then we can PM out the league name and password.

    I'm in.

Yeah, the change in the cap is making it easier for teams to get the best players, and now with the aperance points down, people can get a lot of USMNTers and not be penailized when the players are gone for WCQ. I don't like it.

On the league, I would like to, but I'm committed to the league that I played in last year, the AAPL.

I will again start a team just so everyone else can watch it die of neglect as I again move/relocate over the summer. (-but hey, it sounds like this year I actually won't be penalized for that)(-yeah, I agree it is a bad rule change).

dude, if you aren't going to manage your team then don't play, let someone who is going to be active be in it. It makes the league more fun when it is competitive.

And chad, I am not going to help you this time.

Unless I hear something from MIKE (thats a hint if you're reading Mike) then I'm going to set up the Wizards league next week when the site is up. As I mentioned before I'd like to make sure the same folks from previous years get a chance to PM me or post in here that you'd like to play and I'll PM you the password when its set up.

I have been taking a sneak peak ( a short one) the cap has gone up but so has some salaries. Plus the forgeiner eligbility rule has been changed.

I think if the managers stick it out this league is going to be very competitive this year.

I'm in for this season. I don't exactly understand all the secret society stuff (lettuce-knows and PM's) this year as last year everything was just posted in threads for the wizards community. If there were an actual prize involved then yeah but this is just bragging rights. Anyway didn't want to sound negative I just think you're creating more work for yourself Ben.

    Go Hurling Cuervo FC!!!!

3 words Mike - Fear the Bison

...annnnd there you have it! Unmitigated arrogance from the Champion in the blue corner.

[Bronx Construction Worker]Hey Mike, mount this. I got your pm right here, unh![/BCW]

That dull thud you just heard was the Gauntlet being thrown down.
