I know you're out there, but where?

is there anything close to a soccer bar in portland? I don't have digital, so the FSW games are out and I can only get the games on ESPN2. not quite as fun watching it at home, though.

I'm a transplanted united fan but I'll watch anyone. just wondering if fans around here go to bleachers or rivalries or the asylum or some other place.

    any suggestions would be appreciated.

    thanks.

Drive down to the Razor for the games. You can even wear your DCU kit----we Rev fans are very open minded.

    thanks for the invite.

actually, I do generally make it down for united-rev games, at least, and will probably do some more games this year, though it's a long, blurry drive back up after a game. last year a friend of mine worked PR for the rev -- got me into the swanky pregame receptions. some of those players' girlfriends were smokin'. you'd think these guys made baseball money.

given the catatonic state of portland in general, foxboro might be my closest option!

what's the tailgate scene like at the razor?

Well you don't need tickets, stamps, or 3 forms of ID for our tailgates. Just show up . There's always grill space available and most people share what they bring.

Also, when home games are at 4pm like the last two, or 6pm this weekend, that gives you plenty of time to drive back at reasonable hours.

It's not the money - maybe it's the fact that most of these guys are down to earth, and great all-around athletes with stamina, unlike many baseball players.

Check out the Wednesday night pickup games at the Back Cove. You'll be able to find kindred souls there.

I've watched Nats games at Bleachers, but don't like the place very much. The folks at Ruski's are pretty friendly--it's a neighborhood joint up in the West End, and I put a soccer game on up there once in a while without drawing complaints. They don't have a satellite or anything, though; I'm not sure any place in Portland does.

Once, in 1995 I think, I had to go to a bar out by the Bangor airport to catch a Nats friendly vs. Brazil on satellite. Aldair scored the only goal.

The "catatonic state of Portland"? I'm flabbergasted. This place has everything, man. I love it here.

Portland footy fans gather all winter at RiRa on Commercial Street for live EPL and full Irish breakfast. Trying to find a pub that airs MLS is a different story, however. I did watch a Revs match at Fore Play on Fore Street a couple years ago. Let me know if you do find a spot.
