For PS2, they have every season up until 2002. Will ET 2003 be released for PS2? Yes, when? If no, why not?

probably not because Konami and ESPN parted ways. However the never released Extra time 2002 on the PS2, it was only released on xbox and gamecube. For reasons unknown to me, it was made but cancelled for PS2. I would like to get my hands on it if there are any floating around. it does exist but never put for sale.

mls extra time 2002 was the best of the series, an excellent game.

Mls extra time for the PS2 was weak though.

mls game night for the ps1 is an all time classic.

Konami will be putting out World Soccer Winning Eleven though. The great game but without the MLS setup.

World Tour Soccer 2003 will have MLS player and sort of teams. All the players will be on the right team, but the team names and colors will be wrong. This game is supposed to come out on Feb 11. I have read some good things, but never played World Tour 2002. I plan on purchasing it to hold me over to WSWE (another game I've never played, but the hype is tremendous).

Sega Sports has taken over the rights from Konami. Sega has made some excellent sport games. From my understanding there should be a MLS Extratime 2003. The question is when?

I just ordered MLS Extratime 2002 on XBOX for $20 from a guy on EBAY. He called it MSL Extratime. :)

I hope this game is as good as ISS 98 on N64, the greatest soccer game I have ever played.

Is ISS 98 the one where you control those little boxes for the penalty shots? That was an awesome feature and made penalties more than random guessing/luck. Anybody know why they don't do that anymore?

I rented this game at the same time I bought FIFA RTWC '98, but the graphics were so awful I never played it (Whenever I buy or rent a soccer game, I always play two teams against each other and just watch). I should have given this one a try. I read many rave reviews about it for years.

Yeah. Valderrama is on the front.

It has pretty good controls, using the "C" buttons for different kinds of passes and tackles.

I don't like the fact that it randomly switches players when you're on defense, instead of switching to the defender nearest the ball. I don't know why, but some people don't seem to mind the misspelling of players names. Names like Raras and McPrade seem so fake. I'd rather go for a game with the licensing and the correct spelling.

And why are MLS teams in MLS stadiums a near impossibility to get a game for?

The thing I liked about RTWC 98 was the fact that you could angle your spot kicks, so they'd bend to the left or right.

This sounds good. MLS teams in MLS stadiums, hopefully as well. Hopefully NTC in LA as well.

I just got it off buy.com for $30. :p Anyway, my first impression is that I hated it. Ever since I started playing the MLS dynasty mode though I can't put it down. It's so cool having a game with all the MLS players and their faces and stadiums. I really don't understand why the dynasty mode is only 5 seasons though and why do you have to play every game. Why can't you sim? I hope Extratime 2003 with the fixes comes out for XBOX.

    1) there is a way to change the defender switching on mls extra time to manual, so that shouldn't be an issue anymore.

    2) MLS extra time faithfully recreates all the stadiums in MLS.

    3) in the 2002 version, there are crowd chants and various other nuances that add to the game.

    some

I thought that MLS Extratime was better than FIFA 2002, but FIFA 2003 destroys the new MLS Extratime in almost every aspect. I can't really understand why people would think otherwise. I ended up trading Extratime. There really is no comparison between the two this time around......

    Re: some

well extra time is still far more realistic, and it moves more like real soccer, the AI is more realistic and like someone said it has the mls stadiums and they use the mls ball. I would choose mls extra time 2002 over fifa 2003 in a heart beat.

    hmm

The players don't even move fluidly in Extratime. The only advantage that Extratime has over FIFA is that the MLS players, stadiums, etc. look more realistic..obviously. However, FIFA has a decent representation of MLS in addition to all of the other leagues that Extratime doesn't have.

The gameplay in FIFA is much better than Extratime. I wouldn't have siad this for the 2002 version, but it is 2003. Give props where they are deserved. Some people just WANT to think Extratime is better. I do too...

or maybe extra time is better. I think you're in the minority on this one. I really wanted to like FIFA 2003 but well, another mediocre game.

I agree with Fizzle, I fell in love with Extra Time when it first debuted on the PS and loved it for PS2. But FIFA 2003 made huge strides and is a better game (especially when played on the harder skill levels). Both games have flaws but it's hard to play outdated games, which both now are. I wish an MLS game would come out that included the Superdraft results (like Extra Time used to). FIFA 2003 is now useless since you can't edit anything and MLS rosters have changed drastically. I hope the SEGA Sports MLS game comes out and I hope World Tour Soccer is good. But I am not as high on SEGA Sports as everyone else, their college basketball game is junk, horrible game play. I sometimes feel like video game developers don't play the games they produce to realize their flaws.

On a side note, the greatest feature in the history of soccer video games was RTWC98's international selection feature. You could pick the national teams, why can't you do that anymore?
