Every team has played at least 2 interconference games except the Revs who have played none

Also, Miami and Philadelphia have already played their allotted 6 cross-conference games.

I get Miami…they didn’t want any teams hosting Messi for their one and only time during Copa.

    Philly must be random.

Last year Cincinnati had played all 6 inter-conference games by week 16. And Charlotte had played 5.

    The schedule is quirky.

@newtex Does you database let you look at the mix of game venues? Home, road? Are those evenly split between the conferences? I only ask in case you have that handy.

note: I was about to edit this to fix the typo of "you" rather than "your." Then I realized I was calling @newtex a database and I find it highly appropriate. Tip-o-the-hat Sir.

I don't have a database for this. I just go through the schedule at the begining of the year and count the games each week. This post shows the home and away overall by week. It is even for each conference and has to be pretty much even for each team since the conference schedule for each team are split that way. Each East team plays 14 home and 14 away conference games. So they play 3 home and 3 away non-conference games. Anything else would show up as a discrepancy in the final home/away standings. The West is a little trickier since teams play a different number of non-conference games but it all has to work out.

    MLS East v. West 2024

    Does that answer the question?

Correct. We don't even include MLS Cup. This thread has always been regular season league games.
I guess someone could start an all-encompassing count.

At the start of the season "experts" were saying how much better the East is than the West. I didn't believe them at the time.

The top is better (Columbus, Miami, Cincy). And SJ is the worst.

But the East has more tems hovering around 1 ppg (NSH, CHI, NE, DC, MTL). Plus, I think the 2nd tier in the West is, if not better (though I think they are), certainly deeper. The NY teams out east vs Col, Hou, Van, Port, & Sea. Philly, Orlando, & Atl are perking up a bit, but it is probably too late. Charlotte is stingy but in a rough patch. The East has more BAD teams.

If rgw East has more bad teams are the teams at the top as good as people believe they are? Seeing as most of their wins are against bad teams and all.....

IMO, the East is better overall top to bottom as there isn't as much separation between the teams.

Columbus owns LAFC (2-1,5-1, 3-1) and tied RSL away while we rested virtually entire team and sold Quinton to RSL the next day. Who plays for RSL now.

So, yes, the top of the East is better.
