...and KC likes to wear predominantly blue at home... Is there anyone here who couldn't have writed that?
Yeah there is nothing interesting in that write up at all. Especially nothing interesting about the team's Superdraft strategy.
Have any of these mock drafts ever been even *remotely* close? (superdraft, expansion drafts, any of them?) Anybody remember a few years ago when all the mock drafts had KC picking up forwards and A-mids to boost the offense... and then we proceeded to draft ~12 defenders?
Greg Selzter at No Short Corners ranks his Top 5 Late SuperDraft Steals today. At #2... Davy Arnaud (2002 6th round, 50th overall by Kansas City) Jack Jewsbury (2003 5th round, 43rd overall) is an honorable mention.
I say we deal away our first round pick to toronto who does not have a first round pick, for chad barrett and a 2nd round pick. Toronto is maxed out on their american players, making Bunbury very attractive due to roster restrictions. I would also take an allocation plus Barrett. Toronto is in a very sticky situation with limited draft picks available so they need to deal away wisely, and Mo Johnston will probably make a very hard push to get a player they need now. We need a younger striker Barrett is only 25.
No thank you, I don't want Chad Barrett anywhere near KC, 5 seasons in the league, 124 games, only 27 goals. That's averaging 5.4 goals per season. Unacceptable for a striker. I don't care how bad our forwards were, Barrett is not an improvement. Not to mention his tendency to have shockingly bad misses.
http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2010/01/mls-combine-matchday-commentary.html Combine started today, Ives is reporting that Danny Mwanga isn't even there because Philly has already worked out a deal with him to make him the number 1 pick Thursday.
According to Ives, TFC is looking to get into the first round: http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_...m_campaign=Feed:+SoccerByIves+(Soccer+By+Ives)

i can understand wanting to stay home 'n' all, but if anderlecht wants you... ummm, i go there first.
Michael Lewis' MLS Draft Trivia post today has several KC-related nuggets: Jake Dancy, Kerry Zavagnin, Brian Loftin, and an anecdote from the '03 draft in Kansas City.
Looks like TFC is after Bunbury: http://www.torontosun.com/sports/soccer/2010/01/11/12416286-sun.html FC Dallas has two picks, but they are both behind us. They could always trade Nicky back to San Jose for their first rounder in order to get ahead of us.....
I love our position. It appears there are 5 top picks: Tchani, Bone, Bunbury, Opara, and Mgwana. There might be one we don't like of those, but we should be able to get a player we really want with our 4th pick. No need to trade up on down with this one or worry about people trading ahead of us. I haven't see anyone play, but I don't like Ives idea of picking Sean Johnson at 20. I would rather try to trade up our 3rd round pick and get Brian Perk instead.
From the first two combine day reports, Johnson hasn't been very impressive while Perk has been. The question is Perk's size, he's more in the Rimando mold.
Considering what an MLS rookie gets paid, with no guarantees ... you have to think this is a good move.
Actually Opara is a Generation Adidas player, his contract would be guaranteed for the first 4 years.
Hold up. If he's finishing his degree, how can he be a Gen A player? Isn't the whole point of the program to compensate collegiate players to put their degree on hold and declare for the draft early?
Opara is a junior. He was a Bradenton guy, so he had ample opportunity for independent study/early college credit. Presuming that he's an academically-minded young man (seems like a safe assumption), then it's easy to imagine that he has enough credits to graduate in May while retaining playing eligibility.
