my season ticket to nyrb gave me a pre-sale access to tickets for the final. it opened 10oam november 20. i logged into my rbny account and looked for available tix. i found it inconvenient because instead of a map of the stadium where you pick the seat you like, this was spitting out only three or four 'best available' at a time, and their notion of 'best available' seemed to be different from mine. it kept offering seats in the very front rows which are lousy for soccer. so i kept declining and hitting 'search again.' finally after at least a dozen tries it offered me something i liked, for $88 close to midfield row 12. i think that's a good deal. except that next i'll probably be reporting on whether they actually do the refund 'within three days' of the team being eliminated...
You probably could have just called your ticket rep and got exactly what you wanted faster. That's how it always worked for me with Galaxy and MLS cup.
i tried but it rang busy. i think other people were trying that root too. i know not that many people from big soccer will be buying tix but i was curious in the various experiences and ways of getting them that might be reported.
we didn't get the 'same seats' option, or at least i didn't, and i'm in the top 'red' class other than suites/club seats (i renew early each year, already paid for 2016).
If you are in the top class of seats, then the league probably took them for sponsors, league employees, blah blah blah. I remember some SKC Season ticket holders got moved from some mid field sections because the league took the seats and they were moved. Might be worth giving your ticket rep a call and finding out what the deal is.
No problems here, Got my same seats. I will say this was 10x better than trying to get USxMEX tickets, that was terrible.
I gave up my Crew season tickets a few years ago but had no problem buying MLS cup tickets through the public sale. The amount of fees which won't be refunded is ridiculous though. Tickets were $41 each for upper sideline but cost $52 each after fees.
In San Jose, we get a couple of options (I'm a club ticket holder, so other's mileage may vary, and we're not talking about the final): 1) I get an email before "regular" tickets go on sale, with a time to call and reserve my seat and/or a web site to go to, depending on the venue (we were suppose to play a 4 different locations last year). When I get a link, it's always allowed me to see an open seat map 2) Then I'll receive the "regular" season ticket holder date and/or link 3) Finally the open to the public date/link For regular season games that were part of our package, the seats were assigned for us outside of Avaya. Our Levi's stadium event this year took longer than normal and our seats weren't assigned until May as I remember. Tickets for Avaya, Levi's and Stanford (I think) were done through TicketMaster. We had one game that was suppose to be at Cal (it got rescheduled when ManU didn't want to travel through Bay Area commute traffic), who had their own link. Getting affordable tickets for Barcelona vs. ManU at Levi's was almost impossible due to Levi's on demand pricing that seems to be automated. We got early links to buy (presumable after the 49ers season ticket holders) and when I tried to log in, Ticket master couldn't handle the load. When I finally did and did an initial search, I found some ok tickets for 150.00 each, in the 1st deck. I thought I might be able to do better and searched again... I guess everyone logged in during those few minutes... the tickets I had originally looked at were given up and the next best tickets were 350.00 each in the third deck I decided not to go.
So did lots of us RSL fans, only to have them rescinded. That was not my favorite ticket buying experiences. It was simple to buy for the 2009 Cup in Seattle, with the RSL block in the upper deck anyway. Unfortunately all four of us here in Casa Ismitje cam down with the flu - a particularly nasty version - midweek before the game, so while the ticket buying experience was fine, we never made it to the game.
