Congrats to the Revs fans who got to experience a great run and filling up the park today....

Congrats to the Revs players for coming back from the depths to nearly win the MLS Cup.....

But as for you you Steve "Borin' Arsenal" Nicol,

Bunker ball loses out, AS USUAL.

This was not Paraguay playing France in WC '98....

Just like Gansler has learned, who somehow lucked out and won it all a couple of years ago, you will realize that a quality side eventually outlasts that supposed game you had your club play the second half of this season.

It's just a shame Taylor Twellman was not 100 percent so he would once again make you look good.

Let me be the first GaLAxy fan to congratuate the Revs on a well fought game. Do the league a favor and come back strong in 2003.

    Cheers

it was a matter of who scores first and unfortunately, LA got lucky. but sure, and undoubtedly, the revs played a better team. on the other hand, i am very proud of the revs. this season has been an unbelievably great season. it's just heartbreaking to see them get rounded in the cup.

    go revs!

I thought the Revs won it about 30 seconds before the Galaxy won.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp The Revolution played well. You New England fans have nothing to hang your heads down for, and your team will come back strong for 2003.

2 things...any schmo knows Nicol played for Liverpool. And did you watch MLS Cup 2000, by chance?

Shoot, that game was a hell of a lot less exciting than this one from a neutral perspective.

    Re: Re: MLS Cup [R]

I know he played for Liverpool, but the style of play was ''borin' Arsenal," which would have made George Graham smile.

Secondly, you didn't catch my reference to Gansler. But you are right, Hala. This game was more exciting from a neutral perspective, which is a sad commentary.

What game were you guys watching? I can't think of ANY "perspective" from which this was not a boring game. A couple coaches waiting for the other guy to screw up does not make for exciting TV.

But congrats to most Revs fans. You guys had a great run this year. (A couple of you were obnoxious assholes all summer, but not many)

You have all the pieces to keep it going next year. See you then.

Just got back from the game. While I was disappointed the Revs lost they really didn't play their best today and the result was a fair one. I'm glad the game didn't go to penalty kicks. Too many key Rev players had off days today in my opinion - Ralston and Hernandez in a particular. Having Twellman at 100% would have helped too.

The team has nothing to be ashamed of though as it was a great run. I had written this team off 2 months ago so its great they got this far and have something to build on for next year.

Speaking of next year, I wouldn't be sad to see Chacon gone. He had a chance to impress today but he was terrible. He's much too slow and his ball handling was awful. How did this guy ever lead the league in scoring?

    Bill,

the point Hala and I were making is that the 2000 Final was SUCH a snoozer that it made today look exciting...and as you know...looks CAN BE deceiving.

At least us Metrofans haven't tasted glory yet, it'd go to our heads...bad luck guys. We hope to follow your example next year (except with better tactics and a trophy)...

You may have to give credit to la's defense because twellman really did not get any service today.

I actually thought the game was exciting. Granted there was not a lot of offensive flair, but I liked watching two extremely good defenses shut down two strongs offenses.

I could barely watch the second overtime when I thought the Revs had the game won twice and lost two or three times.

I don't think I could be any prouder of the Revs. They really pulled together these last few months. and have become a great soccer team. I don't think I could be any prouder of the Revs' fans either. 61,000 people watching a "boring" soccer game is amazing. I wish only I could have been there. Hopefully this team will return next year and win it all.

How was that luck? It was CLASSIC counter attacking, and when you have the best finisher the league has ever seen, wide open in the box, it's anything but lucky.

This game really really hurt, but I can't help to feel good about next year...

  23. Don't bash me.. but from my angle at the big razor, it seemed off-sides. It could've been just the angle I viewed it in, but anyhow... onto what I'm going to say.

Profiled's right, it wasn't luck. There was nothing Adin could've done to prevent them from scoring on that, and from the looks of his reaction afterwards, you could tell he knew it.<bad joke> Poor Chewbacc-- err.. Shre-- I mean... Adin. </bad joke>

Long story short before I make more of an ass out of myself, I'm ending this by saying Nicol should be proud that he's been able to bring the team together like he has...

...That, and I still liked Greg better than Alexi. Alright, now I'll shut up and go to my corner.

It absolutely was not, as replays conclusively showed. Not that it's going to make you feel any better.
