from what i can gather we have two teams with a wicked defense, a goal keeper who's playing unbelievably well, a competent midfield, a striker who's setting records all over the place and at least a couple of other guys who can put one in the back of the net when it counts.

    advatanges for the revs:

    homefield
knowledge that LA's been there and lost three times before
    confidence
    twellman
    brown
no team has beaten new england at home in a really long time
will becoming off an emotional win

    advantages for la:

    been there three times already
great streak going (3 wins vs. 1 win and 2 ties)
    ruiz
    hartman
    confidence
no team had beaten san jose at home in a really long time
new england (like colorado, san jose and us) might be coming of an emotional win

i'm guessing one of three things happens, 3-3 thriller with both teams going at it for 90 minutes, galaxy winning on a carlos ruiz goal late in the 2nd half of overtime.

a 0-0 affair going all the way to penalty kicks.

a 0-1 affair where new england scores early and clamps down

    ---

and of course regardless of the result there's another really tough match 4 days later.

Anyone know what Twellman's status for the game is. I personally think he'll play because well it's the MLS Cup.

He was interviewed at HT of the NE/C'bus game yesterday. He said he should be ok for Sunday.

    Stickied thread.

I talked to TNT a bit after the game, and he says he knee hurts and he probably won't practice much this week, if at all - but that he'll almost certainly play on Sunday.

    ???

So much has been made of the Revs' injury problems. Are any Galaxy players hobbled? What do you anticipate the line-up to be?

My early lineup guess will be this, barring injuries:

    -----------------Hartman---------------
    ----------Califf--Lalas--Marshall--------
    EZ--Vagenas--Elliott--Victorine--Jones
    --------------Moreno----Ruiz-----------

rokstedy's lineup looks about right. But, I think you will see Cien start and Pete V. come off the bench, especially since he is just coming back from injury.

If we had 6000 fans, it would be incredible, we had about 6 last time =(.

Although I think having a week and a half to plan as opposed to 4 days will also make a huge increase.

    I predict 3-1 G's.

    Ruiz in the 8th minute.

Twellman in the 57th minute (assuming he plays).

    Lalas in the 78th minute.

    Ruiz in the 88th minute.

I stand corrected. Cien and then Vagenas subs in later.

Actually, we did a bit better than than. I met at least 6 G fans in C'bus airport heading home after the game. We were just all spread out through out the stadium. (blame that on the G FO)

FWIW, I think playing a three-man back line that has Lalas in the middle on a surface as big as the one at Gillette Stadium would probably be a mistake.

    6000 galaxy fans?!?!?!?!

I would be shocked if you had 600

Hell I would be shocked if you put 60 all in one place.

Anyway good luck in the Open Cup Final.

Muther effer!! even if 60 showed up, that's still more than you arse clowns averaged a game all season.

Prepare to die in your own house and Twellman I heard he's the snipers next target.

What are the field dimensions at Gillette? Is the field any bigger than the one at the Rose Bowl that Lexi has played on all year?

Have you been reading Red Foley's posts again?

And sniper smack not only is that in bad taste but I have a newsflash for you Twellman doesn't play for dc. Or were you and your firm going to fly out to RFK for this one? Well enjoy the game wherever you see it I know I will.

The field at Gillette is 75X115, while the one at the Rose Bowl is listed at 72X115.

Do you honestly believe 3 yards is going to matter?

Alexi was the anchor for the best defense in the league, going up against a team with a half crippled striker, who scored nearly 50% of the teams goals, isn't going to make Sigi change his back line scheme , it's worked since he introduced it a few weeks into the season, and will work again.

Actually, some managed to gather on the press box side in the second half, but there were still plenty spread out. I'd guess maybe a little short 100 were in the stands last year.

Well good luck to NE. I really haven't been real impressed with them too much in the playoffs. Saw all of their games against the fire and they didn't look too great. That defense is over rated from what I saw agaist the fire, its just that the fire are that bad of finishers. I didn't see their games against the crew but score lines of 0-0, 1-0 and 2-2 is good numbers for a defense though. Sounds like their offense has dropped off a lot in the playoffs. If Twellman doesn't play the Revs are going to have a hard time but I think he'll play but don't know how good he'll be. Bottom line is if LA plays like they have been playing lately then there the Revs don't have much of a chance to win even with the home field advantage. Lets just hope LA actually shows up at this title game.

Tonight was the night LAG were supposed to be facing Boca Juniors for the Interamerica Cup. All in all, I am very glad it cancelled / got postponed.

Even though the competition the next two games is not against teams that were at the top of the table, I do not think we should underestimate the difficulty of playing on the road in two finals against two home teams with very hostile crowds. It sure does seem strange that LAG's "reward" for an unparalled season of success is to have to play on the road when the chips are down.

I wish all those going to Boston a very good trip. If you want excellent seafood there at a very reasonable price (in a very funky setting) go to the No Name Restaurant. I wish I was there with you. Mrs. Cadaver and I may make it to the CBC Sunday but that is up in the air.

We will be going to the Open Cup, so the LAG flag will fly there. Hope someone other than us shows up in Ohio to root for the good guys.

I didn't want to start a thread for this, since I'm just a guest here, but could somebody help me out?

I'm fooling around with some old Crew game pics and I came across this one from, I think, 1996.

Can somebody tell me who the Galaxy player is?

If that's not Eduardo Hurtado, then it's no one at all.
