From tonight's SoccerAmerica MLS Insider: 2. TV LINEUP: Eric Wynalda will join ABC's broadcast team for MLS Cup 2002. He and Terry Gannon, who worked together during the World Cup, will co-host the game and will contribute to the pregame and halftime segments. John Paul Dellacamera will do the play-by-play and Ty Keough will be the analyst. On the sidelines will be Veronica Paysee and Rob Stone. An official announcement will be made Wednesday. Rock band Puddle of Mudd will perform as part of the festivities.
At least they were smart enough to separate JPD and Wynalda (nothing was more entertaining at 3 am then watching Waldo putting all his energy into not stragling JPD during their World Cup time together). And Puddle of Mudd, damn. Who would have thought they would have landed a decent band. If they bring back 10 best goals halftime segment (narrated by Stone and Lalas ) then things would be complete.
When did JP and Wynalda work together? I can't seem to remember that. Might have been the time of day, though...
Holy crap, a rock band high on the charts that gets air time everywhere...and it's not Creed! Go MLS!
This is great that John Paul Dellacamera will be the man, hopefully this is a sign that he will be "OUR" announcer next season, I like Stone, but he is the best sideline reporter MLS has, and thats where he should be...Get Waldo in the booth next to JPD and we would be set...but overall I'm happy with the group they have selected for MLS Cup...Hopefully the cup is the best ever..Production wise and play wise...
I thought it was me they listened too. JP is good but I agree I woudl like to see Wynalda in the booth and let Ty handle the fluff stuff. So...Puddle of Mud...I have heard the name. Are they any good and shoudl I buy their latest CD?
Northside, think Nirvana but not as good, yet not a complete rip off. Just sort of a grunge style. I hate their first song they released, 'Control', but I actually liked the next few that came out. Download a few MP3's and if you like it go buy it. =P
That's not the worst review I have ever heard. Props to MLS HQ for thinking outside the diva / boy band box. I look forward to watching the game on TV after I get home from Boston and seeing it in person.
How is it bad? It wasn't supposed to a full-fledged review - just trying to describe to someone what they sound like. Lighten up.
Fantastic that DellaCamera is doing the call for the Final...if only someone other than Ty (Seamus Malin, Tommy Smyth, a drunk Krazy George) was the analyst. Glad to see that the half time show isn't a pop princess or anything, but Puddle of Mudd isn't that good. Popular, yes, but I wouldn't say good. Think of a third rate Alice in Chains knock off, and you're getting closer. Whatever, though - if it puts people in the seats, I'm for it. The more people watching the halftime show, the shorter the line for beer and nachos!
I was being light. That's not a bad review being compared to Nirvana. Next time I am in a music store and I remember, I may buy their CD. Sorry for the confusion.
1) read his post: he said, "it's not the worst review." You have to be seriously insecure if you take this as an insult. 2) don't tell anyone to lighten up until your medication kicks in.
Puddle of Mud isn't my fav but I'll take it over a Pepsi-pop-diva anytime.... except for maybe Sharkira BTW- I think MLS should just can the half-time show and put Chinaglia, Wynalda, and a broadcaster booth in a "Scorpion tournament" type cage. Watching those two battle would be more than entertaining.
Oh, man. I screwed up. I missed the 'not' part. I thought he said it was the worst, which is why I told him to lighten up. And then I thought you were insulting my grammar. I shouldn't visit rant boards where everyone flames everyone else before visting BigSoccer. My apologies.
