2003 Fire won the shield and USOC, then lost MLS Cup final.

1998 Fire won MLS Cup and USOC, but finished 3rd in the regular season.

Tactically, I have no clue what Bruce is attempting to do. Just Becks whipping in crosses? And when Becks doesn't start, it goes to shit, as in it's just inaccurate long ball after another. It almost seems like he forgot how to use LD. LD is not getting the ball in any position to be creative most of the time, and Bruce refuses to play the ball through the middle to help get him involved.

Yeah Becks is getting old(although his crosses many times are their best opportunities). Yes they really miss Omar defensively. But that doesn't explain the complete ineptness we're seeing from this impotent offense. Junhino all the sudden seems like a shell of himself. Same with Buddle. Entire team is underachieving. Even though not having Omar really hurts the defense, that is not why they're losing these games.

For how much Bruce rips MLS HQ and their way of doing things, where he does make some good points, it's just as easy to rip his tactical acumen.

    Yep.

United 1998 - Won CONCACAF Champions League, Won InterAmerican Cup, 2nd in SS, lost MLS Cup to Chicago. (Could have been Quad)

United 1997 - Won SS, Won MLS Cup, lost open cup final

Just to answer the question, some 1.5 years later: :p

2013 is the Record-Breaking Season, with D.C. setting the largest drop-offs by Points (-42) and Position (-16).
