I think Nancy just got tired of Bill's whining about Milton Valenzuela. Okay, so you want a mid-20's Argentine outside defender? Here you go. Happy now??? Of course, it's the wrong side, but still.
Farsi has also played on the left before (not preferred, obviously) I could see both on the field together, Herrera on the right, Farsi on the left late just as more of a shutdown/support guy.
I have a feeling that's the plan. Honestly with Farsi's game, I don't see a big benefit to him being on one side over the other. He's not putting in crosses from the right and I don't see him slashing in and shooting from the left. He's going to give good effort and help shut down his side defensively either way. Though I also thought Hinestroza would be groomed for wing back, so what do I know.

not that I don’t think this is legit, but don’t discovery rights prevent the “multiple bids” coming from MLS?
Re: Andrés Herrera, I will have to read up a bit more on him but it seems the loan was for 300k, with a purchase option for 1.2 million for 60% of his rights, meaning River will take 40% of the transfer fee that the Crew make on him.
Indeed so. You can't even make an offer unless you file for discovery first. MLS clubs simply do not bid against each other. What they CAN do is, for lack of a better term, flirt with a player, talk up the team and lobby for some interest. But no money talk.
US Citizen, Plays for Ivory Coast U23 national team. I'd guess he isn't 19 any more, and doesn't look like the club was ready/willing to put him on the big boy squad. Edit: If MLS clubs can only flirt, I like the Crews chances more than Austin or New England.
More likely Farsi would play RCB, def center mid when we rotate as both would play RWB. Might be forthcoming nobody would be shocked
He was never gonna be a wingback, that was just nonsense, the people (*cough* Bez) who were publicly talking about that did everyone a disservice.
No. Charlotte had Rues’s rights, didn’t stop LA Galaxy from making a better offer and having Rues force Charlotte’s hand in selling his ‘rights’.
Last year he had 17 goals and 5 assists in about 800 minutes in the 4th division with Nurnberg 2. Maybe he was injured or something, but with a scoring record like that you’d think he might have gotten an appearance or two in the senior team. We signed a dude from Barcelona B and he just left Crew 2 without really making a mark. I’m not sure if this signing would be for the Crew or the Capys.
did Charlotte make an offer for reus? What’s the point of the rights if you can just circumvent them?
You can't circumvent them. LA had to trade with Charlotte to get his rights. He very clearly told Charlotte I am not coming to you so holding my rights is worthless so they got something from LA for someone they were never going to get.
I believe to hold onto your discovery rights when another team wants said player, the rights holding team must make an offer to the player. I heard Charlotte made a DP offer, yet Reus wanted LA for a XAM level deal.
Tommy Scoops saying the loan deal is close but not done for "wingback" Herrara. Someone on reddit said that Tommy told him last night that the sides are not close on a new deal for Schulte.
All players are signed to league contracts. You can't make a legit offer to a player without MLS's approval. And there's no way in hell MLS allows two teams to make offers to the same player.
Sure, but a back channel talk isn’t a real offer. And if you’re a GM who’s talking to a player currently on your discovery list, and you then learn that some other MLS team has also been talking to that player, all it takes is a call to MLS HQ to shut it down. MLS won’t let teams actually bid up the value of a player.
Quick break in Skills Challenge: I’ve been told that #Crew96 are in discussions with Argentina’s River Plate about Andres Herrera, but they are not in the stage of finalizing any deal yet— Brianna Mac Kay (@brimackay15) July 24, 2024
