Discussing a player who hasn’t suited up for us in three seasons has to be one of the dumbest discussions we have seen on this specific thread. Especially when it’s an open window.
Given the injury history and him wanting too much money, we absolutely did the right thing to move on from MV. It’s not worth talking about. Had he not wanted too much money it would be a discussion that still involved his frequent injuries and potential.
Well, Bill thinks that we have yet to find a really good replacement for Milton. If you want to make a meal of it, bmg
FWIW, while Valenzuela hasn't been totally healthy since he moved to Switzerland, he's been mostly so; for the most part, he's logging 90 minute appearances. He turns 26 in August. I don't know how well he'd have adjusted to Nancy's style of play at LWB, but my guess is that he'd have fit well into it. He had speed, and at LB in our back four set-up, he had to do a lot of running up and down that side of the field. I'd have liked to have seen him in this system. His injury issues, though, were a legitimate concern. I can see why we let him go. I can also see that, under Nancy's fitness regime, he'd be a consistent starter here. Water under the bridge at this point.
We won a cup last year, not sure if you remember who scored in that game. Also, Id argue that Arfsten this year has been better than Yeboah was at any point last year. The team has the highest goal difference in their history, still, at this moment. I know we just lost a game and tied one before that so everything is awful, and the front office is a bunch of know nothing apes who never had a clue to begin with, but a little bit of perspective is probably fine at this point too. This roster, including the guy playing that position at left wing back, is better than anybody else that lines up against them in this league. And theres a good chance its better than any team that lines up against them from Mexico too, as long as they mind what they eat.
Completely disagree Arfsten has been better this year than Yeboah at any point last year. Yeboah at least, ya know, tries to defend. Kind of important for a wingback. His offense can be sporadic, but so isn’t Arfsten’s.
Wasn't it Farsi rather than Cheberko, who was marking Gregerson? That's a mismatch from the beginning but it's what the video shows.
Because I had no idea where to put this... Taha Habroune had a strong outing with the U-20s vs Cuba. Next up: Costa Rica. 10pm Thursday on FS1.

He appeared to be a pretty good RWB, Competition for Farsi . Although Farsi is versatile and could play other positions
A right back? Turns 26 in November. Not sure how this would work in our roster, since Farsi would seem to be the player he'd replace. Maybe? Ubiquitous highlight reel:
I think we needed a solid backup RB. Arf has now moved over to the LB slot and is starting there, taking away his previous role as the backup RB. Arf, in my opinion, has also looked much better on the left than the right. Sean was another backup option at RB. He, of course, is also been our backup CB and CM. With Morris gone, he's probably needed more at CM. A loan move here makes sense.
I feel like Nancy will tinker with his roster in many ways to keep Steven from going back to his RWB/RB spot. That's why we've had Sean and Arf play there instead of Steven, even when we had more CBs on the roster than RWB. I just think Steven is the perfect player in his mind for that role and he doesn't want to move him.
Might be reading too much into this, but Matan removed the references in his instagram bio to the Crew, but did not unfollow the Crew. Elena had a sappy post about being home. He also posted this to his insta story, but he's always posting any prematch pictures there
Yep, its a good move for the reasons you mentioned above. Previously Matan was also used in the RWB depth chart, and it seems theres a decent chance he could be on his way out sooner rather than later as well. That just left Farsi, Zawadski, and Arfsten as options to play over there. Which isnt great when Zawadski and Arfsten are currently first choice at other positions. Moreira is absolutely positively never moving away from his center back role, and I dont know how many times Nancy has to prove this to you people. And its 100% the correct decision. Im dubious that a high priced/starter level center mid is brought in to pair with Nagbe now. Zawadski could be it. We'll see.
That seems pretty obvious, to me. I was never great at math, but if we ship out a player every time we sign a new one, the roster's never going to get any bigger, right?
This is a starter quality player, not a depth guy. If it's a loan, I assume he'd start over Farsi. Which is fine,I suppose, and adds depth. But it does little to really improve the overall roster, IMO. I just don't yet see any evidence of the overall plan for the roster. Hopefully, there are a flurry of moves over this break. I mean, Hinestroza is loaned out. Matan may be following him soon. Maybe we bring in a player for a defensive position where we already have a presumed starter. Assuming Matan's social media post is legit, we'd be left with almost no offensive depth on the entire roster. JRR and...??? We must have some other moves planned.
Looks like Herrera is the starter at River Plate, so I assume the idea is for him to start here. It’s just a loan though, so must not be a sure thing. They already tried to take my boy Farsi out with Gressel, they can try again
