Pogba's age isn't the issue. Rather, the problem is that he stinks. He has all the talent in the world but just doesn't care much about anything but the paychecks, which are gargantuan.. He had a bad ankle which kept him out for a year. Then he tore up a knee which he wouldn't get surgerized until he did. Then he tore up a thigh muscle practicing free kicks. Then he got "kidnapped" or something by his brother or something and held for $15 million ransom. Then he hired a west African holy man to put a curse on Killian Mbappe. Then gangsters showed up at a ManU practice apparently to kill him over money. Then he got banned for illegal substances, a suspension which he is still serving although the CAS reduced it to 18 months which, I would note, does not equal innocence. His coach at ManU called him "a virus". This is a guy you want on your team?
FYP Other coaches, sure. But Nancy? Pogba would seem to be the opposite kind of player Nancy would be looking for.
Pogba is from France so I think Nancy would be willing to speak to him but if he didn’t think Pogba was in the right headspace , then he wouldn’t add him just because. Nothing wrong with giving a guy another chance , especially your fellow countrymen. I think Nancy would be interested. We have several French connections and I think if motivated he would dominate with the Crew and could move on to a bigger pay day after redeeming himself with his performance on the pitch. That said Pogba wants to play for Miami. I hope that doesn’t happen but if it does than I hope Bill is right and he is a cancer.
#Crew96 Wilfried Nancy said that the team received "good news" that Evan Bush can return to training. Nancy would not confirm if Bush could be available vs New England, saying "we will see"— Brianna Mac Kay (@brimackay15) October 9, 2024
Hope he didn’t really say That, DP rules mean no such thing. Doesn’t have to be Pogba but any star money shouldn’t be the issue for us.
He was asked specifically about Pogba, not if they'd empty the vault to bring in Haaland or Mbappe or any of the other top players in the world. Whatever they'd have to spend to bring in Pogba would be too expensive for what he'd offer.
Should try to get DeBruyne. I think he's out of contract at the end of this year. He's talked about coming to MLS. I could seriously see him in MLS somewhere. Unlikely to be here, but he would be a dream signing for a Nancy team. Salah is out of contract too but can't see him coming here
This is so bonkers that even though I assumed you were telling the truth, I still Wikipedia-ed the guy to double-check. What a trainwreck. I did see that he suffers (or did) from depression. We're learning more and more about mental health and what it can do to people, so maybe if he gets a handle on it, he could pull out of whatever destructive spiral he seems to be into. But while I'm not opposed to someone somewhere giving him a chance, we're not that desperate.
For what it's worth, which is not very much, some people are saying that the Monsour brothers, they of the mega-billions of dollars and who own the new San Diego team, have both the money and the willingness to waste it and want to sign both of them to go along with the just-signed Chucky Lozano, who they pried out of PSV Eindhoven for $12 million. The logic is that they can a) make a big splash and get the new team on the map b) leapfrog over LAFC as the west coast glamour team and c) become the Inter Miami of the late time zone games. It sounds ridiculous but I suppose if you have the money and want the world to sit up and notice you.....
I agree but , we better have a really good CM come here next year. Also hope we don’t see him dominate MLS and make Miami even better on a great contract deal.
DeShawn Watson gets pretty sad sometimes too. In order to help him they should pay him a quarter of a billion dollars and let him singlehandedly destroy a football team. It's the compassionate thing to do.
The McKennie to MLS thing is dead now. He's back in the project for Juve. It looked like he wouldn't be registered, but now he's a locked in starter again.
Pogba is the type of signing that the Chicago Fire have been doing for the last decade or so. The Chicago Fire have missed the playoffs 11 of the past 12 seasons.
