Choniere would fit nicely. I saw the other day that 17 players on Montreals roster are paid more than he is. He currently is making a laughable $275k. For an MLS All Star two years in a row. A Canadian national teamer and a guy who runs his ass off for 90 minutes straight. He's like a machine. He is a native of Quebec and is fine living there but Saputo is refusing to pay him what he's worth so he's asked out and it's hard to blame him.
a bit spoiled in crewland right now, but I would like at least one more signing (preferably in CM) before the window closes. Too lazy to look but does Columbus have any open INT spots left?
OK, time for a belated update. I have been in Alaska/Canada for 2 weeks. When I did have cell service (briefly), doing a full roster update was not how I wanted to spend my time. But the moves were Jones for Sands + Garberbucks ($600k) and the loan deal (with a purchase option) for Herrera. Loan last thru summer 2025. https://www.columbuscrew.com/news/c...ill-sands-600-000-in-general-allocation-money https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/columbus-crew-acquire-river-plate-defender-andres-herrera Jones signed a 4 year contract in January. He is inked thru 2027. https://www.revolutionsoccer.net/ne...-dejuan-jones-to-four-year-contract-extension Will have to check on Herrera in terms of contract. And the exact #s on Jones' salary, but he is slightly above $700k IIRC. So a small buydown is necessary there. I. Senior Roster (1-20). 16 of 20. Counts vs the salary budget of $5,470,000. It’s deadline day. Though players out of contract can be added through some time in September. Seeming a good chance that this roster is set as is. If you want to quibble about anything then fine, it’s your life, go ahead. Quibbling is just standard around these parts. Maybe central midfield is slightly thin? But this team is clearly good enough to win everything as is. Look at the bench from last night: The following players played a major part in the playoffs last year: Ramirez, Yeboah, Farsi, Amundsen, Matan. Also Schulte of course. That is real, quality, proven depth that other teams in MLS would die for.
Only major complaint is that with Sean starting at the 6 he's not available to back up our CBs. That makes us very thin at CDM, CB, & RCB.
Deadline day notes. Jones' contract is for $786,996/$793,246. Will have to wait for the September update to get final numbers on Chambost & Herrera. Transfermarkt has Herrera's contract running thru 12/26. So the loan deal almost gets us there. We have at least 1 INT spot open by my count: Cucho, Moreira, Camacho, Farsi, Matan, Cheberko, Yeboah, Chambost, & Herrera. Hinestroza would be #10 if he came back from his loan. During his loan, he does NOT count as an INT or U22 player for us. Of course, someone else IDK about could have a GC or not count anymore under the new rules. I had left Mrowka's first name off somehow. Cole. I. Senior Roster (1-20). 16 of 20. Counts vs the salary budget of $5,470,000. Max salary budget charge is $683,750. Again, I am a tad disappointed we did not max out our DP/U22 options, if that is indeed the case. CM/CB being the two areas where I think we needed the most help. But turning Sands + GAM into Jones, Chambost, and Jackson. Plus loaning Hinestroza out and getting Herrera loaned in, have to be considered positives.
Thanks as always, @TrueCrew , for the effort you put into tracking the roster structure. Just a quick addition for anyone interested that any of our new acquisitions carry pro-rated salary budget hits for this season.
Yeah. I mean, we are not paying Jones' full salary. Unless that was somehow an unreported part of the deal. But barring any such stipulation, we'd only be paying a pro-rated part of any acquisition's salary. None of the guys we got are DP/U22 types, so there is no built in mid-season reduction in their budget hits in the rules. As for the Hinestroza/Herrera loans, that can be contract/deal specific. So, IDK. But usually the team where they are going picks up the tab (pro-rated) from the time the player arrives until the end of the loan. But that can vary if the terms of the loan say so.
Right: i just don’t want people to color this transfer window as a net positive when it’s been far from that.
Well, you might not want it, but Im going to choose to be positive about the team thats lost a handful of games over the past 6 months and continues to light up the scoreboard week after week and is the current favorite in the tournament they are playing in.
Thought the rumor was that there wouldn't be one, but alas everyone seems to think there will be. We could protect 12 last time. Miami and Cincinnati both protected this go as they had players selected when St. Louis came into the league. St. Louis got Indiana Vesselev and Gioachinni who are and were great players for them, before Gioachinni was sold to Lake Como (Ocean's 12) I don't know anything about having a full roster means you're protected.

11:59 p.m. Wednesday in the Central time zone The window will close. im concerned we are going to sell Schulte because well we can sell him at anytime we just can’t add ppl after tonight.
IDK, but all kinds of guys are OOC at the summer. Reus & Giroud, to name 2. As for GK, Bush is hurt, we have open roster spots, and we carried 4 last year. Hagen is Guatemala's #1, so for INT windows, he won't be available. If Schulte starts getting Nat calls, we'd have an issue for matches played in a window. So an extra GK seems like a good move.
