Jones was not brought in to be "another option" This guy is class and will definitely start at one of the wing back positions.

The reason Hinestroza was brought along slowly and only played when another option was needed was because he wasn't grasping the system and was struggling tp perform.

Don't forget that Jones was drafted as a forward! He will bring an element not seen yet. I won't get ahead of myself and say he is world class, but the best wing back in MLS is not a stretch.

This team just got a whole lot better

I’m talking about his versatility as another option. He could definitely play lcb or RCB if we need to rotate the squad.I think he will start most likely at lwb it’s a matter of time but he could start at RWb if they possibly try Farsi at CM which is less likely but we just have a ton of guys with versatility and then our system works best with guys who can pass out if the back. Hinestroza was always a attacker and not versatile like Jones he only played wingback when we were trailing and need a bit more bite in the attack late in games which happened 2x i think and once was probably just to rest the starter that night. Jones will be a regular starter i have no doubts about that.

I’m not sold on Zawadzki at CM long term with Nagbe. I think he needs to learn and get experience at CB backing up Camacho. A number of guys could pair with Nagbe or we could grab another player. Maybe Sean will improve at CM because it’s probably hard on him not settling into one spot. He needs to take advantage of his current opportunities.

Yeah I agree with all that. I still think we will see a U22 deal done this window for a guy to replace Morris. I don't see buying down Nagbe for a DP unless the deal of the century comes up.

Agreed. We’re better with Jones, certainly. But Morris’ departure left a huge hole (and I say that as a big Zawadzki fan). More to the point, though, I just think could use offensive reinforcements, especially if the various hints about Matan’s departure end up becoming a reality.

We have a week left to do something significant in CM and up top or we aren’t winning the cup.

The list of guys who were drafted as forwards and wound up playing in the back line around this league is very long.

It makes you wonder how many years were wasted of these kid’s development because they might have been the best player on their teams and got stuck up top. It’s like putting the biggest and tallest kids in goal. I played with a kid who could dribble circles around us in practice, but he was stuck in goal. (He was a hell of a keeper though).

I’m still more concerned about CM & CB

but In the attack only a DP guy young starter quality forward big , fast and athletic . CR can’t be your long term option with Cucho & Rossi .

This team as currently composed is the best Crew team in history, it’s not close, and it’s one of the best in league history and I still have to log on here and read this brain diarrhea. What on earth are you talking about dude. “Something significant.” Give me a freaking break.

Miami is the best team in MLS we are top 5 rn I would argue 2nd best as of today. We can never stop improving. Whether we add a CM or not we need to keep adding talent. We have u22 spots and can get another DP. My focus would be more on defense but to each his own. We have made additions to get better and we have addition by subtraction and could see more of both.

You need to lighten up a bit he loves the Crew and wants us to get better. I want FCC to add nobody but I don’t suggest the Crew do that.

You can’t coast. You have to continue to improve or other clubs will pass you by.

    Then there are injuries.

Based on Nathan Harriel's Instagram, Schulte and all the MLS guys were still in France as of last night but the post implied they were leaving.

Also, almost the entire team, about 16 players including Cucho and Matan, were at the City game yesterday. Yaw was not, and Yaw posted some spiritual posts implying he may be leaving. Sean was not there either, but i ran into him yesterday, so think he had other plans. https://www.instagram.com/p/C-QYpE4u9sg/?igsh=MTQ2bjRnZjg4cHo1aQ==

St. Dunc for one. As I recall, he still holds the goal scoring record at CS Fullerton.

We won 9 of 10 in 1996 (outeight, not shootouts) right after Friedel got here to make the POs in 1996.

Hesmer was mostly a passenger. Friedel turned the boat around.

He led the league in GAA in 1996, and 1997, I believe. But didn't play in enough games to qualify in 1996.

Timo out & Friedel & Warzycha in were the big moves. Last time I checked, you cannot lose if the other team does not score.

As for Jones, put me in camp wingback. He can play either side and is pretty two-footed, though he is right footed.

If he is at outside CB, something weird has happened. Not that he couldn't, but I want better size/strength in that spot: Cheberko, Amundsen, Zawadzki, Moreira, etc.

I wonder if Jones' presence presages the posibility of us playing more 4 back. Or going to four in the back if we have a lead.

Hopefully his size will help our set piece defense.

Shaping up to be a very boring transfer window.
And we still have how many roster spots?

It can’t hurt that he is 5’11 but Max is taller. Definitely a lot bigger than Yeboah.

also he is taller than Amundsen but about 15 lbs lighter so CB would be more of a rotational thing if it ever happened. Anything is possible with Nancy but he is similar to Farsi with the ability to get up and down the pitch. He didn’t come here to play CB I’m certain of that but the conversations about his position lwb or rwb is unknown to us know but it’s going to be revealed and subject to change depending on team needs. Nancy now has more options when moving his pieces around the chess board.
