Great chart from Bogert. Though he must not be aware that Zawadzki is on the depth chart at all positions. Re: This team is great. But without Cucho? His talent has glossed over some issues at times, and I really hope August 14th comes and goes.. and Cucho is still wearing the Crew black and gold.
They REALLY gotta figure out that damn Circle of Honor with that lineup. To not have Brad Friedel in it? Yeah, I know it's the fact he never won MLS Cup...then again, it's the Crew CoH and not the "lifetime CoH."
I'll allow it. I could see putting Mike Clark in Mensah's place. I wish I could work Stern John and Brian Maissonneuve into it, but I don't know who I'm pulling from your lineup to do it.
I was always a huge Brad Friedel fan, but the guy only played thirty-some games for Columbus. He was barely significant. Yes he went on to great things but none of them occurred in Columbus. Will Hesmer won a Cup and two Shields. He had more clean sheets than Friedel had games played.
I always made that argument, but to fair, I set this one up by saying "at any stage of their career." So even though Friedel's time here was short, we know what he was. To me, this one isn't worth splitting haris on.
Crew Player Brad Friedel in one net vs Crew Player Will Hesmer in the other. That'd be spicy. And yeah, I think some of us might be jaded because what Brad did *after* Columbus, particularly in Asia.
Clark was more of a RB He makes the 2nd team. Speaking of: ——Stern——Zardes———-Cunningham ———————-Pipa—————— ——-Maize——————Danny O——- Afful—-Gonzalez——-Lapper——-Clark ———————-Steffen—————— I know Afful is on wrong side. And he is clearly not best choice for 2nd team. Perhaps Moreria instead. And I can’t wait for Hang, and the rest of the Kei kids club to come at me for Cunningham and Zardes over him.
If looking to field the best 11 at any point of their career, I think I take Stern over Lucas and probably over McBride as well. This is not taking into account titles and length of Crew career. Using the same criteria, Friedel is hands down the better keeper at the height of his career than any other Crew keeper.
U Unfortunately we could sell Cucho after that but hopefully we would never do that and if they did it needs to be in the window so you can bring in the next guy. I trust Tall learned a lot from Bez and will do a good job. So far so good ,
Good discussion and breakdown of the Jones trade toward the beginning of this video: https://www.youtube.com/live/hRStx5IKjo4?si=7kEJk5hXes-RhUmz Bogert says he was getting texts from other front offices that were livid, and in disbelief, that Columbus got this trade through. "Fireable offense" is what they said. Bogert and Gass also lay into New England pretty hard for giving up a talent like Jones just because of his cap hit, and breakdown where they see him lining up in Columbus. Also Gass is practically giddy at how he sees Nancy using one of the best and most versatile talents in MLS. Also Bogert does briefly mention the Russell-Rowe transfer rumor again, says the player does want a move where he can get more playing time. But Columbus values him a lot in his backup role. If the teams valuation is met, seems like a move probably happens though.
That's part of being a reporter, if other people scoop you. You STILL have to report the stuff, it is her job. And she reported it 1 hour and 7 minutes after the scoop. Everyone after that checked their contacts and confirmed it. What if she was at a ********ing movie or something? Give her a goddamned break. It was like 9-10pm at night. People have lives. And if she has to confirm with the team, maybe she saw it right away and had to wait for her contact to reply. FS, y'all are so quick to attack people when you have no goddamned clue what their job requirements are. And Pat Murphy has contacts and has been a fan of this team since he was a kid. Of COURSE he's gonna report on shit on the side. He's a great dude. But back the ******** up off of her. Let her get her flow. Blame the Dispatch for treating our beat like a revolving door. Not the people who are shoehorned into it with no experience or contacts.
Well she mentioned the 600k which i heard from her on whoever posted her twitter. I don’t follow all the ppl necessary to get the story quick. I generally see it here or Facebook first.
You have to wonder if there was a major personality issue between Porter and Jones. Why would they let him go for such a low price + Sands?
Well, with the incompetent, dimwitted Curt Onalfo as TD, who has a long long record of colossal failure, bad personnel decisions and inept management, stuff like this will happen. DC, KC, Galaxy, fired all over the place for monumental suckitude. So New England figured hiring him would be a grand idea? The man is an idiot, which is the last thing that Porter needs in the FO.
DeJuan jones adds another versatile defensive option. Again we don’t know what was said to the player about his position but one has to assume he is going to start out as outside back which is his normal position. We have rotated at LWB but he can play RWB as he is actually right footed despite starting at LB for NE. While he could play CB at some point because he is 5’11 and has a skill set that would fit Nancy’s system to allow it, It’s very unlikely we see him there anytime soon. Nancy tends to bring in new guys and keeps them where he sees fit like Hinestroza was an attacker he only played wingback after he was here for awhile and the game situation called for more attacking options. Yeboah and Arfsten are attackers but they can’t get much minutes playing up top with Cucho & Rossi. Jones is better defensively than both of them even if he is considered more of an attacking outside back. Arfsten & DeJuan Jones also can play either side. Farsi is also versatile and could play with Nagbe in the midfield allowing DeJuan to start at RWB. Key is we are a little deeper and better defensively.Yeboah will have a hard time getting minutes. If we could move him and free up his 600k that would be great. But perhaps that happens in offseason. I can’t see a scenario where we pick up Yaw Yeboah’s option for 2025 so if you can move him it’s a win win. Yeboah got better but perhaps would fit better in another system. Yeboah and Alex Mățan both could benefit going to a weaker MLS club where they could start. Which could net us some GAM and clear cap space. I’m excited to see DeJuan Jones and would expect him to eventually start at LB but when is another question. we play @ Philly ( who is starting to play better ) NYCFC Seattle ( is playing better recently) @CIN @ Toronto ( one of the worst opponents left) Orlando ( also playing better ) DC United (on short rest after Campeones Cup)
Reports out of Algeria say Farsi has been contacted to represent the country in the September call-ups, and he has accepted.
