The capacity at Dignity Health Sports Park is 27k but it has been the same since 2003.

    https://footballstadiumdigest.com/2017/08/los-angeles-chargers-prep-stubhub-center-for-nfl/

By that article, these are the things they improved.

I'm trying to think what type of improvements $35 mil can buy Fisher at PPP but can't think of anything at the moment.

Maybe add more luxury suites and seating or grandstand in the corners by the bar?

Not sure how much that money can buy or build...

@TrickHog, as one of the long timers over there, congratulations.

It’s true, our ownership situation here is complete garbage. About all we’ve got to hang onto is the greatest comeback of all time when we knocked you guys out with a 5 goal comeback win, 21 years ago.

But it’s been all downhill in San Jose since the end of 2005.

I hope one day the rivalry will heat back up. In the meantime, enjoy your cup win.

Thanks. With El Trafico now the big one here for us, I'm really hoping that SJ and San Diego can develop a good NoCal v SoCal rivalry.

Unfortunately, with John Fisher here, we’re doomed. To me a good rivalry means the teams are more balanced in their competitiveness. We have an owner who doesn’t give a single damn about competing in this league so it’s all bad in SJ.

We are at two ends of the spectrum and it’s pitiful, no point trying to sugar coat it.

I have to admit though, I’d rather see Galaxy win it all than LAFC, so nice job regaining LA bragging rights.

Hey Falvo, i think it was early in the year that the Quakes sent out a survey to STHs to evaluate several ideas for redoing the stadium. It was all about adding more luxury seating.

You got one of the ideas, which was creating an enclosed VIP area in the top unused corner of the stadium. Another idea was to build a new enclosed VIP area in the upper section of the Newhall side of the stadium.

I listened to the Major League Journeyman podcast, where the 3 guys were talking about how much Riqui Puig brought to the Galaxy. They said he had a huge number of passes (or touches?) per game and because of his dribbling and passing ability, almost never lost the ball. I couldn’t find the related stats, and I only watched the Galaxy when we played them, so I didn’t realize how important he was to the galaxy.

No surprise to me, watching him tear up the Quakes. He drops all the way back in front of the back line to receive the ball, then slices straight through midfield into the final 3rd and distributes the ball or shoots. Rinse and repeat.

I'm confused as to how one finds out that Riqui Puig is important to the Galaxy from a podcast not from watching games or highlights or looking at stats or reading analysis or anything else that isn't "some MLS journeymen said it on a podcast"

I'm confused as to how you're confused. She doesn't watch him play, podcast guys say he's an important player...simple. o_O

Well if some guy has a podcast he must know what he's talking about, they don't just give those out to anyone!

The MLS Journeymen podcast is Dax McCarty, Alan Gordon, and Dan Gargan. I think they know what they're talking about in terms of MLS players? Going out on a limb here.

Will those upgrades equal the equivalent of $35 million?

I learn a lot more listening to former players talking about the game than listening to a bunch of pundits (or BS fans) who never played beyond elementary school.

Gargan, Gordon, and McCarty all have terrific insights based on what they’ve experienced, how they react to other players and teammates on the field. McCarty is particularly smart to listen to as far as strategy and tactics. If you listened to their pre-mls cup episode, you might learn something.

Those guys are good (relatively speaking, I'm being diplomatic here) soccer players, they might have things to say about what they experienced and players/teammates on and off the field, but why would that mean they have any special knowledge about strategy or tactics or anything else? Do the best construction workers when they age out of lugging around heavy things go into architecture because years of experience building has taught them about design? Dax McCarty is very smart I said that, but sorry you can't convince me Alan Gordon is because I have heard the man speak already. Former players get pundit jobs because the public knows who they are, not because they have anything particularly insightful to say.
Landon Donovan is the best player in USMNT history, not long ago he was suggesting Christian Pulisic leave Europe and come back to MLS... Pulisic instead went to AC Milan where he's one of the best players in Italy. Now Donovan is suggesting Gio Reyna leave Dortmund for MLS. That's what "his experience as a player" is good for!
In Moneyball (the book) Billy Beane said he prefers to hire people who were never professional baseball players because he doesn't need to spend so much time having them unlearn all the nonsense they have accepted as conventional wisdom.

I'd give much more credence to what those guys say than I would someone like Matt Doyle or those other mlssoccer pundit weenies, or, for example, The Aftershock Guys :).

Matthew Hoppe can still be the best signing in Quakes history...
    - Hoppe wins the lottery
    - Hoppe buys the Quakes based on his fond memories of the bay
