I think the x-factor with this game is our right flank. with Franklin/Gonzalez busy keeping the Ashe/Kandji combo stopped, I see Meyer leaning a bit more left, and I just don't think Dunivant will have the speed/tanks to take on Boni/Sarkodie (plus i feel Beckham might stick closer to Moffat/Davis.). really it comes down to the Magee v. Sarkodie matchup for me.
, "I don't place too much emphasis on the fact this is his last year," goalkeeper Tally Hall said of Beckham. "We thought it was last year and it wasn't. Not disrespectfully, I don't really care that much." Way to go Tally. I love that quote.
I forgot to post my report on today's MLS Kickoff story. Since it was heavy on Garber's report, it only had 3 Galaxy stories (all about Beckham) but none about the team in Orange. One of the three stories was a report that the Galaxy are heavy favorites. http://linemakers.sportingnews.com/...axy-vs-houston-dynamo-david-beckham-last-game I don't see how they could be considered heavy favorites to win, but that suites the Dynamo. They've been the underdog in every post season game so far and have done what they needed to do in each game.
Didn't that ********ing rock? I swear my pants got tight noticing how the team uses Rico as a ********ing pivot point. Oh man, I won't ruin it for y'all....just read.
Dynamo are a great bet in this game. Not that they are a lock to win -- but the odds you can get on the Dynamo right now are fantastic versus the actual value of the bet.
Another comment on this betting situation. You live for situation's like this where one participant in the game has wild popular support all over the world and those folks have no idea on the other team and thus no way to accurate judge the proposition. To betters all over the world Beckham and the Galaxy to the MLS are like ManU to EPL. They have no clue. Again -- no lock, you can't bet the farm -- but finding situations like this is how you make money.
Thanks. Yea my book doesn't have any lines yet but I've been waiting for it knowing the public would drive LA's line up.
An odd thing happened today on the MLS KickOff page. Today the score was LAG 4 stories, HD 4 stories. I don't think anything even close to that happened last year. And honestly, if it weren't for Beckham, there wouldn't be very many Galaxy stories at all.
The site also has an interview with Arena, in which he discusses whether LAG could be a dynasty, like DCU in the early years. The article notes that DCU won back-to-back MLS Cups, then lost one, but then won the next one. Hmmm. There's just something about that sequence that I like.
And that DCU team beat LAG twice to get those first 3, beating Colorado in the other. Consider this as well, our guys have won the MLS Cup in the Midwest, Frisco, on the East Coast at RFK and can now win it out on the West Coast. In Rico's first attempt no less. In '86, our Houston Rockets bounced the defending champion L.A. Lakers in one of the most memorable playoff games of all time. That being Sampson's volleyball shot that hung in the air for what seemed like a minute before going in at the buzzer. Our two cities can once again provide the sporting world with something special. C'MON BOYS!
Tom Dart has another piece on the Dynamo. This one is from The Guardian and focuses on Adam Moffat, the "bearded piranha": http://m.guardiannews.com/football/2012/nov/28/adam-moffat-houston-dynamo-david-beckham-mls-cup
Huh...Moffat just signed a new deal? That'll make the offseason even more interesting depending on how much of a raise he got.
Just to put shit into perspective this is lifted from my Facebook so I apologize if some of y'all saw it already: For those of you traveling from Houston, Texas to Los Angeles, California. You are traveling a further distance than separates Glasgow, Scotland from Rome, Italy or Berlin, Germany from Madrid, Spain or Moscow, Russia from Munich, Germany or Amsterdam, Netherlands from Lisbon, Portugal! You are traveling further than many other teams travel for a UEFA Champions League Final! Congratulations!
Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Carson is 2615 miles. From London I could go to every single place in Europe (actually I could go between any two European cities). From London I could so get to Kazahkstan, the Middle East and Egypt.
