I like how this works, it makes every game mean something in the regular season..

and for the play-offs it makes it very exciting... Top eight teams make it to the MLS Cup round robin stage..

There would be four teams in two groups

Top seed from in each group get all hoe games
second place seed in each group get 2 home game and one away (against top seed0
Third place gets one home game and 2 away games (against higher seeds)
fourth place gets no home games...

Top two in each group qualify to the next round..
first place in one group plays against second place in the other group in a one game play-off...
winners qualify to the final where it would be played in the home venue of the highest seeded finalists

I like this format it would bring alot of excitment, and nobody would be out of it, until the last game is played...

    What you guys think?

Didn't we all discuss this already at length back in July?

You know, when that blog post was originally published.

I think i remeber but the demographics were obviously differnet! and the result of this year MLS CUP 09 obviously brings me to the conclusion that something new has to come up for MLS.. because having Real Salt Lake winning it all isn't quite attractive to a league..

Colombus Crew- Eliiminated Won the supporters shield
L.A. Galaxy- Although were in the final was second best after Crew
Real Salt Lake- Came in last place and made it to the final and if I am not mistaken, look at their record they were under .500...

Do you think me bringing this up again was to solely bring back a discussion that was discussed on different terms??

Obviously I bring this up again here in DECEMBER, because obviously there is probably alot more people interested in a new format, because of how Real Salt Lake was the East Champs (having them be in the West conf.), make it to the MLS final under .500, and win the MLS Cup being seed number eight...

You have to understand that the format now is not that good, and having this format put it in would magnify the importance of play off position...ALOT!!

So please do not come in here with that type of attitude towards my argument.. if you are going to put something , have something worth saying... i hope the rest of you agree...

This year and last years play-offs were pretty wierd and confusing to the new MLS fan wanting to get in...

Just think about this format and see how it would help, to me, it seems there can be no negative sides to this idea....

I think that was on a different forum talking about how MLS should be scheduled, Im talking about this now because it is solely on play-off structure.....

you seriously enjoy trying to make people look stupid??

Just get a life and state what you think about the idea of the play-offs... They should change and in this format it would be for the better...

I seriously don't enjoy people posting crappy threads on N&A forums.
