With the playoffs underway, it is only fitting that we begin to look ahead toward the pinnacle of our season…MLS Cup 2004. Supporters Shield…Congratulations to the Columbus Crew for wining the 2004 MLS Supporters Shield! Similar to what was done last year, the Supporters Shield will be awarded during the first Crew home playoff game on October 31. Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info Without getting too out of line here and jinxing the team... Those of you already planning on going to this game: 1) Where do we stay? Contact info for the hotel, or hotels close to the Stadium/Gala? 2) Are these the tickets you'll be purchasing? I certainly would want to create a Cauldron away from home if we make it. 3) I assume we're all on our own as far as flying out there? 4) Any other info we should know if we plan on going out there?
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info I know that a couple of rooms of Wizard fans will be at the Hilton Carson Civic Plaza - where the Summit was last year. Apparently the Summit will be at a Hampton Inn in the area this year. The Hilton is literally just down the street from the Horn Droning Center. I got a $79/nt internet prepaid weekend rate for 2 queen beds from www.hilton.com It also has internet in-room.
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info For one thing, though I see nothing wrong with this, and it in fact is what I'll be doing...I knew *nothing* about this before my name was signed onto it. I find it sort of amusing. I will be purchasing via this method either way. I am also staying at the Hilton Carson Plaza. Currently, Mike and I are sharing a room, and there were r0oms available as of last week.
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info What exactly is done at the Supporters' Summit? Can anyone just go into it?
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info Anyone is welcome. The first half is usually a bunch of rehash of everyone complaining about their relationship with their team's front office. The second half has usually had a question and answer session with Don Garber and two or three other executives - and that has often been incredibly interesting with Don and the others saying things you'll never hear in the regular press. Of more interest is whether or not there's going to be a Supporters Bash - the party - this year. That's more fun.
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info Sam/Andy- Can you PM me info for this place. I'll be booking a room there and a flight first thing Saturday morning if they win. I think Calida is going to travel with me, and John has contacted me about going in together. That might leave one more spot in my room as I'll be getting a two bed room if I can. Anyone else going to go if we make it?
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info www.hilton.com put in carson, ca It's the Hilton Carson Civic Plaza. If you prepay, they had a $79/night weekend rate for any room.
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info Given gas prices, I'm guessing it's pretty much break-even between flying and driving. Delta tends to do "fan fares" for sporting events. If KC wins, they'll possibly offer a KC-LA Friday/Monday discounted fare. Now the extra night in LA may cost more than the difference of taking a Saturday or Sunday flight out... The Horn Droning Center is only about 15 minutes from LAX midday Sunday.
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info Just went to Orbitz. Right now: Saturday out - Monday return Nonstop $187 - Frontier Airlines Sat KCI-LAX 7:15am-8:50am Mon LAX-LAX 6:50pm-11:55pm One Stop $191 - American Airlines $193 - Northwest Airlines $202 - America West Multiple Sat/Mon combinations KCI-LAX ------------- Sunday out - Monday return Nonstop $187 - Frontier Airlines Sun KCI-LAX 7:15am-8:50am Mon LAX-LAX 6:50pm-11:55pm mid-$200s plenty of other choices
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info One other thing - Don't forget to check all the LA area airports. SNA is also a good - and often cheap destination. The cheap airlines like Southwest www.iflyswa.com don't show up on Orbitz/Travelocity/Expedia
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info That is funny Andy, I found a $181 no stop round trip to LA and back here in KC on monday.
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info All the flights we're looking at are just under 200.
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info In case any of the Wzard fans in attendance want to go all out, there is an auction going on via Ticketmaster. Just click the link below. http://www.ticketmaster.com/mlscupauction?tm_link=tm_home_f2 The details: The VIP package includes: 4 Club Level seats Access to MLS Cup team practices, held on November 13 from 12-1 PM and 1:30-2:30 PM Private tour of the Home Depot Center (may be before or after the team practice sessions) Pre-game hospitality session 4 passes to the MLS Gala Awards party on November 13, from 6:30-11:30 PM, at Universal Studios Globe Theater
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info Book your flights early. I was checking KC flights two weeks ago and they were $178. A week later they were $331.
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info I was just looking today and found a ton of them for $193
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info Do I need to get tickets for the Summit thing? Is it open to the public?
Re: MLS Cup 2004 Supporters' Section Ticket Info There's usually a small charge or guilt donation to help cover the cost of renting the room. But don't ask me. I still haven't seen the details on this year's Summit or Bash.
Re: Official Team Travel Package I understand that this is only Saturday, but I just called these folks and they were not very well prepared. I'm booking stuff on my own.
Re: Official Team Travel Package I called as well. I talked to Ingrid and she seemed better prepared, but I think we are going to find booking stuff on our own will be cheaper. The initial package they were offering was nearly $700. That is ridiculous. She is supposed to be quoting me a package and letting me know the price. How is everyone getting to and from the hotel/supporters bash&summit and the game?
Re: Official Team Travel Package I agree. We called and they just took our name and number and said they would have to get back to us. We are looking into options but have not made a final decision yet. Where is everyone staying? I believe I remember seeing the Hilton in Carson, correct?
