David Nathanson bio. Fox sports TV guy that has a piece of multiple sports teams.
    https://larry-berg-net-worth.pages.dev/posts/larry-berg-net-worth/
Larry Berg bio. Billionaire commissioner would be different.
    https://www.leedsunited.com/en/paraag-marathe
Parang Marathi Bio. I can see why he's a finalists with connections to the NFL & EPL.
Depending on what the plan is going forward, each candidate has something to offer that's not exactly where Don Garber came from as they all have worked in soccer.

Pochettino and his staff were heavily involved with Cherundolo’s hiring with the U23s. That doesn’t happen unless you’re laying the groundwork for the next 4 years. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get the announcement within the next two weeks.

BREAKING: The Portland Timbers are set to name Marti Cifuentes their next head coach, per sources. Timbers like Cifuentes for attack-minded philosophy and tactical sophistication Previously with Leicester City (surpirsingly fired when team was in 14th and six points out of playoff spots... they won 1 of next 15 games and got relegated) and QPR

The Portland Timbers conducted a deep and thorough search that lands on Marti Cifuentes. Other two finalists, per sources: - Thomas Christiansen, Panama head coach - Josh Wolff, former Austin FC head Spoke with Jim Curtin (as I previously reported) too among many others.

I found out recently that 3four3 is a shitcanned former employee of an MLS team (I think the Galaxy), so it puts all his MLS bashing in a new light for me.

Brian Kleiban. While employed as a youth coach he actively engaged his brother Gary to find European clubs for Galaxy youth players. It's why the likes of Haji Wright, Uly Llanez and Alex Mendez left rather than sign home-grown contracts. There's a whole thread on Gary Kleiban.

The Kleibans had a cult in the early 2010s before they started working for Chivas USA and then the Galaxy. Always been huge self-promoters.

Why does it feel like Don Garber might eventually run CONCACAF?

Oh boy! Expect to see the WC in the US every 2 years ala Gold Cup if Montagliani becomes FIFA president. CPL will also get 1 automatic spot for the CWC every 4 years regardless of where it is played.

He's to smart to want to run FIFA but CONCACAF where he knows all the players in the region and possibly the new President of FIFA, that makes some kind if sense.

I think Cordeiro might make a run for FIFA. I can see Montagliani appointing Garber as head of money making for CONCACAF or FIFA.

Garber is 68 though. Outside of the USA most 68 year olds are sitting with their feet up yelling at the grandkids to stop tearing up the lawn. Yay healthcare!

Well this explains why he opted out of running for MLS Commisioner:

After 25 years with the 49ers, Paraag Marathe is departing the organization to focus full-time on Leeds United and Rangers FC as well as other sports efforts, league sources told ESPN. The move was in the works for a little while, but is being formalized today, per sources.

    CONCACAF should be so lucky.

Greatest commissioner since Pete Rozelle? I know Stern has a lot of fans, but in retrospect, his “greatness” was realizing the league revolved around its superstars. Not like the NFL, which is about the Shield. But while that was a successful business strategy the first half of Stern’s tenure, the last half was meh. Garber went from strength to strength, albeit with the occasional Chivas USA type flop. Or the Jermaine Jones coin flip. Ick.

But yeah, overall, on the Mount Rushmore of sports executives for sure.

He’d be in over his head. FIFA politics are a weird world, where the furniture is on the ceiling and the fans jut out from the floor.

Brad Sims had much to say on: The next MLS commissioner + entering MLS 3.0; Etihad Park (pricing, hosting the All-Star Game); partnering with Gotham; becoming the flagship MLS team/attracting marquee players to the project; NYCFC II, MLS Next Pro's future
