I think what's missing is the coach being a piss poor man manager. For the life of me I can't remember a single NYCFC manager that's had so many run in with players. While Ronny Delia wasn't tactically the best the one thing he did do that was great was get the team to play together and cohesively. You'd see players trying to get teammates into the game if they're off and they fought for each other. Don't see that with Cushing led teams and that was a sticking point for Chanot before he got booted. Magno, Tiago, our serb kid have all had issues with him the Brazilians got loaned out and Chanot got let go. Like you mentioned he's got a good attacking side but he's not getting them playing consistently. So off he goes.
I too thought they'd coast until the stadium opened, but I think they've had enough. I kinda feel Lee may have thrown him under the bus a bit. Cushings producive players have been a home grown in Haak, a draft player in Malachi Jones and free transfer signings of Wolf and Martinez. Any player that thr club has spent money on has done ******** all over the last two seasons. Those very two seasons Cushing has been at the helm.
But it's not his fault Magno, Mijatovic and Bakrar didn't work out. Meanwhile they made plenty on Tati, Pereira and probably McFarlane. I wonder if Cushing said or did something after the RBNJ defeat that sealed his fate.
I'm not so sure, but I wouldn't be shocked if we got Vieira back tho. I do believe he's available AND has history with Man city.
John Herdman out at Toronto FC. That club continues to just be a massive dumpster fire. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/john-herdman-resigns-as-toronto-fc-head-coach
You're not paying attention. Herdman resigned.... because MLS, Canada Soccer, and MLSE told him that he either resigns or he's going to get canned due to the drone debacle while he was with the Canadian National Teams. There were also rumblings of TFC using drones to watch over opponents training sessions as well. With Canada being one of the 2026 WC hosts, MLS, MLSE and Canada Soccer being major stakeholders in that event (and Canada Soccer)..... it was only a matter of when this would happen. This was rumored weeks ago on Footy Prime.
Every coach that didn't make the playoffs except for two coaches in their first season and one in his 16th. Shield standing 1. Miami 13. New York City 14. Vancouver ------------------------------- 18. Austin 19. Dallas 20. Atlanta 22. Toronto 23. Philadelphia 24. St Louis 25. Nashville 28. Chicago 29. San Jose The missing teams are DC, NE and SKC.
I had no idea that things around the drones were still hovering around Herdman (pun not avoided ). Yeah, that makes sense now.
