From what I've been told, Belgian media is claiming Ronny Deila is on his way to Standard Liege. That's one way to stop NYCFC from their hot streak.
It's now official. Ronny Deila to Standard Liege, Nick Cushing in as interim manager. Apparently NYC got a fee from Liege.
Here's the article: https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/ronn...for-standard-liege-nick-cushing-in-as-interim
I reckon it's nothing more than the nature of the beast. European coaches are always going to be looking to go back, especially if it's a somewhat prestigious club like Liege. My 2 cents, anyway.
Twitter buzz is starting to make the rounds that Adrian Heath is being given a three year extension. The timing of this...right as season ticket renewal is getting underway...is curious, to say the least.
In a de facto way, a purported 3-year contract extension could be seen as the dreaded 'vote of confidence' given to a head coach, regardless of the sport or the team's level of play.
I mean....I totally understand wanting stability for the team, but he's been underwhelming the past 2 seasons. With the amount of talent United has, they really should be performing more consistently, and be higher up the standings.

Interesting move for Rooney and he appears to see MLS as a pathway for getting bigger jobs in Europe. Which is a good thing for MLS being able to attract good coaches.

Gavin Wilkenson (president of soccer) and Mike Golub (president of business) have been "fired" from both Portland Thorns and Timbers. Sam Stejskal has some insight into that. Merritt Paulson failed, but sources I've spoken to are confident that MLS won't force him to sell the Timbers. As was the case w/ Dell Loy Hansen and Robert Sarver, this sad saga will probably come down to Paulson's tolerance to mounting public pressure. https://t.co/pvOOnQTwra pic.twitter.com/TqhlIEXvww— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) October 5, 2022
Columbus Crew part ways with head coach Caleb Porter | MLSSoccer.com Two years removed from winning MLS Cup right?
Yes.. But it's also been pointed out that Porter has missed the playoffs 5 out of the 9 seasons he's been a head coach... He's so hit and miss.
