Next time you hear somebody suggest coaching doesn't really matter in MLS consider this. The Rapids starting XI that just out-shot and out-possessed DC in DC included 8 starters who were on the roster for Hudson's selection at the start of 2019...where the team looked sub-USL quality and set a record for the worst opening third of a season in league history.

Also, the other team's brain trust is Ben Olsen and Chad Ashton.

After so many years, you would guess Ben Olsen would have learned something by now.. even by osmosis.

Is he second to Peter Vermes in longevity? I mean, Olsen has been in charge in DC for a very long time.

I believe it's Vermes, Olson and then Jim Curtin & Vaney(?). If we want to get technical, maybe throw Schemetzer in there? He's been a coach at Seattle for a very long time, although he wasn't the head coach this entire time.

Too long. Started in 2010 and to put that into perspective:
    • Philadelphia Union started play this season
    • Chivas USA was still a team
    • Sporting KC was still known as the Kansas City Wizards
    • The league consisted of 16 teams; Vancouver, Portland, Montreal, NYCFC, Orlando, Atlanta, Minnesota, LAFC, Cincinnati, Miami and Nashville have all debuted since he finished his first season in DC

Jason's post in the last thread seemed like a good candidate for the first post in the new thread. I spent about 20 minutes setting up a poll, having forgotten we're capped at 20 options but with 26 candidates (I know Cincinnati doesn't have a permanent coach, but given their luck so far I wouldn't discount the possibility their guy is the first hired and then the first fired) I abandoned the effort. I couldn't decide which six to leave out. I will edit in a poll if people know which 20 they want considered.

I'd say leave Arena, Bradley, Pareja, Vanney, GBS, and Fraser(?) off the list.

Maybe we do 19 with option #20 being "Other"?

Leave Olsen off. He isn't going anywhere.:whistling:

After two games, I wouldn't leave off GBS.

Lots of examination of GBS going on in galaxy circles this week. He should be on this list for sure.

How about pair up some of the less likely candidates?

After last season, and the first two games of this season, he seems like an easy choice for being in the "other" column.
