One could make the point that whatever Adrian Heath has been doing the last two years up here, it wasn't near the same area code as Authentic Football Management.
Are those still a thing? EDIT: I guess so, though the new forum design makes them rather subtle. You have to actually go into a forum and look for the shaded text at the top.
I am amazed that a lot of people didn't know Guillermo had a twin brother named gustavo. They even got to play together. Edit: Not talking about you andy specifically, but what I've read on the internets
The new L.A. Galaxy manager has a twin brother who played alongside him. The new Atlanta United manager has a twin brother who played alongside him. Any others?
Brad Friedel, but his twin is really, really small. Too small to be a keeper, even in a kid-sided game.
Heck, I remember Gustavo playing in Puerto Rico when Guillermo signed for the Crew. Also, think we've found the next head coach for whichever team fires their's first. Imke Wübbenhorst is the first woman to coach in Germany's top five leagues.Great response to a stupid question 😂 👏 pic.twitter.com/o1BY5L7Gzw— DW Sports (@dw_sports) January 16, 2019
It was pretty funny when DC United signed Nana Kuffour, who strongly resembled fellow Ghanaian-American Freddy Adu. The WUSA had four sets of twins. After the first year, three of the sets were teammates. Jacqui (Rimando!) and Skyler Little with Washington, Nancy and Julie Augustyniak in Atlanta. The others were the Ronnie and Lorrie Fair, and the other pair is escaping me at the moment. The Augustyniaks were pretty close, but I could usually tell the difference in their facial features. The Littles were really tough. Other than position on the field, if I couldn't make out the number, the only way to tell is that I don't recall them ever wearing the same color scrunchy in the same game.
Stejskal: San Jose GM Jesse Fioranelli out to make up for forgettable 2018 There isn’t much that needs to be written about how brutal the Quakes were last year. Their 4-21-9 record and the midseason firing of first-year manager Mikael Stahre say more than enough about how bad things got in 2018. Not that Fioranelli can compartmentalize his club’s struggles that easily. For the Swiss GM, who arrived in San Jose ahead of the 2017 season without any prior experience in North American soccer, 2018 was more than just a miserable season. It was a direct indictment, a black mark that fueled the perception held by some of his peers around MLS that Fioranelli is in over his head. He knew his credibility took a major hit in 2018. He realized that San Jose weren’t looked at as a serious club at the end of last season. He understood he likely won’t get another chance to make this right. Hiring Almeyda to coach the current group of bums isn't going to be enough to "make this right"... as Matt Doyle said, "San Jose are probably at a talent deficit against almost everybody. It's not pretty."
Galaxy hire former Argentine NT goalkeeper coach Juan Jose Romero has been named LA Galaxy goalkeeper coach, rejoining Guillermo Barros Schelotto after spending two and a half years on his staff at Boca Juniors, the club announced Wednesday. The 39-year-old also worked with the Argentine national team, ending his four years with La Albiceleste after a runner-up final in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He joins assistant coach Ariel Pereyra and fitness coach Javier Valdecantos, who also arrive from Boca Juniors, as part of Schelotto's already announced staff.
Actually, I was just referring to incoming MLS coaches in my half-joking question of "Any others?" and I think the answer to that is No. The most prominent other twins that I know of anywhere in soccer are Willy and Rene van de Kerkhof, who played together for both PSV and Holland in the 1970s.
