Hello, i've always been interested in the MLS in general but it's only now that i've started to follow the MLS closely.

SO, im looking for a team to support.
From watching the goals from wks 1-7, on first impression i am leaning towards the Revs, but i do need more info =P

well, can anyone do a team-by-team analysis of all the MLS teams? (both western & eastern)
Basically i wanna know the playing styles, etc.
also, pls include the "star man" for each team.

    greatly appreciated!!

Honestly, you'd find out a good amount on each team by spending a few minutes on each team's boards.

If you've got any questions about the Revs, feel free to ask on our boards. Not too many people actually check for threads at the location you've got this one. Good luck on your search!

    Welcome to MLS paulefty,

You can learn a lot at the MLS website if you haven't already looked at it:

    www.mlsnet.com

I'll give you a quick two paragraph run-down on DC United as it's my team.

DC United was one of the founding members of MLS from 1996. The first coach of the team was Bruce Arena (future world cup coach in 2002 and 2006), who led the team to two championships in the first two years 1996 and 1997. The team's best players of all time were both on that team and are from Bolivia: forward Jaime Moreno and midfielder Marco Etcheverry. The teams in the late 90's also contained many US nationals such as John Harkes, Eddie Pope, Jeff Agoos, Tony Sanneh, and Carlos Llamosa. After losing the MLS title to Chicago in 1998, the team regained the trophy in 1999 under the leadership of Thomas Rongen. After 5 dark years that need not be mentioned, DC regained its crown in 2004 under the leadership of former Polish captain Piotr Nowak. Key players on that team were Ryan Nelsen (now at Blackburn) and midfielder Christian Gomez.

The current team is known very much for having South American flair. There are players from Argentina (midfielder Christian Gomez and defender Facundo Erpen), Bolivia (Jaime Moreno still!), and Brazil (forward Luciano Emilio and midfielder Fred). There are also several key American players such as midfielder Ben Olsen, 2005 defender of the year Bobby Boswell, and goalkeeper of the year Troy Perkins. They've started off slowly, but most fans agree this is a very talented team that should contend for silverware.

DC United is also very well known in the US for its fan groups The Screaming Eagles, Barra Brava, and La Norte. These are some of the most passionate fans in the league.

There ya go. If you have any more questions come to the DC forum and check it out.

    indeed. i've chosen the REVS!!!!

at first sight they appealed to me but i thought the Rapids and Red Bulls also were to my taste.

But after watching more videos on the MLS site's video section (called Quick kicks i think), it only confirmed that i would from now on support the New England Revolution!!
    oh well. haha

He means Good Luck. He's being sarcastic, as my beloved Revs have been in the MLS Cup Final 3 times and lost each. They also lost in the final of the US Open Cup.

Feel free to come onto the Revs boards and introduce yourself. And welcome. :)
