yeah bc you grew up in that weather! as someone who has spent 8 years or so of my life in europe...i have to admit i didnt get it at first but just do a little research and check the avg temps in europe on a monthly basis ones body adjusts to the temp it lives in.....otherwise people wouldnt be able to live in scandinavia or the sahara etc
looks like not a single liga mx team will advance from their group.....also a bad look for mls as well considering liga mx dominates mls
Monterrey are unbeaten against Inter and River Plate. They just need to bang in a few goals against Urawa and hope for a result in the other game.
whatever happens from here, liga mx and mls have both shown poorly ....home soil, home temps.....in season vs euro offseason....and....still getting SPANKED across the board
You think losing 2-0 to Chelsea's first string lineup makes MLS look bad? Shots on target were 4-6, they played a competitive match less than 3 weeks ago. I think most folks expected them to get blown out every game. Not one single MLS team has been blow out. I guess it depends upon your perspective but most foreign fans have been pretty complimentary of MLS. There are always trolls online of course but most were surprised by the level of play.
yes, yes I do. chelsea was barely trying. recent chelsea matches: chelsea 2, wrexham 2 chelsea 1, servette 2 chelsea 4, gent 2 chelsea 2, heidenheim 0 chelsea 1, legia warsaw 2 chelsea 1, djurgarden 0 middlesborogh 1, chelsea 0 chelsea 3, luton town 2 chelsea 2, afc wimbledon 1 only a TOTAL NITWIT would try and hype up losing 2-0 to offseason chelsea as some kind of accomplishment if chelsea needed 6 goals they wouldve gotten them
I really don't care for that excuse tbh, the Mexican fans used to say the same thing after we beat then dos a cero. You put out you first string guys in a competitive tournament with 1 Billion in prize money then claim they weren't trying. I find that doubtful, aren't they paid professionals?
CWC is about what I expected from the U.S. perspective. MLS not thriving but holding their own for the most part. And Reyna glued to the bench.
i watched the match and chelsea was moving so slowly....they literally were barely running...it was obvious i suppose FIFA behind the scenes told the euro teams to ease up on the concacaf teams for marketing etc gonna be hard to sell these games out without american teams in the knockouts
MLS wasn’t trying. Nor was that Japanese team or the Mexican clubs. If you’re making stuff up then other people can to.
Never change my friend. I work at a mental health facility and sometimes I just outright laugh at the delusional things my patients say. This post was pretty much the same thing. Well you certainly are entitled to your opinion!
No they've done exactly what OPTA predicted, except for Miami beating Porto, LAFC losing to ES Tunis and Monterrey drawing with Inter. So slightly better than expected.
from a usmnt perspective (which is the point of this forum, no?), they certainly have idgaf what messi and friends do....doesnt change a single thing about the american contingent of mls players if usa is serious they would look at us-eligible players in europe, south america or even asia before looking in north america for players but we have poch digging for 9 mlsers in his starting lineups at the moment....its insane
The haters as usual were expecting (still are) that MLS was going to get blown out of the water. Since it didn't happen they are now bringing up excuses that these Euro teams aren't even trying. The excuses range from "too hot", "preseason", "end of season", which oddly enough the WC in 2026 will also be played in the Euro leagues off-season, in this "hot weather" and they'll all be coming off a long season.
Just like USMNT fans critize MLS that it is a shit league they need to look in the mirror and realize that USMNT is the same way. And no, I'm not talking about a "B or C" USMNT, I'm talking about our main USMNT. It's a mid product. Single MLS teams have better attendance and viewership numbers than the main USMNT which represents the entire country, not an individual city. With all the players in Europe we have, all the rejected dual nats that aren't good enough to represent another country that play for us and we still cannot form a decent XI with USMNT nor win anything of note. Just like EPL and Liga MX are more popular than MLS in its own country, we have other National teams way more popular than USMNT in its own country. Why? Because they suck. At least in the case of MLS that can change quickly *IF* they start spending more. USMNT is just screwed. Piss poor product even if we have our main team. Both MLS and USMNT goal is to catch up to Liga MX and Mexico which at the world stage are also mid.
Who are the US-eligible players in Asia currently being overlooked that could offer something to the USMNT? And how often have you seen them play?
I do get the impression that some USMNT fans have convinced themselves that the team is some “real soccer” extension of Europe.
I can’t fathom how someone can have followed soccer this century and think the USMNT has to “catch up” to Mexico. We’re already there, and have been since 2001. I just read a piece about rationalists vs intuitionists, but in political context. Intuitionists have their myths and aren’t interested in facts or reasoning. They don’t care about being intellectually consistent. They have their myths, and that’s good enough for them. For them, reality is overrated compared to the simplicity of their myths.
So I usually start from 1990 as that is when we decided we wanted to field a competitive team. I understand in full history Mexico has dominated and I acknowledge that to Mexican fans as they always point it out. However since 1990 in competitive matches (WCQ, Gold Cup, Copa America, etc) we are 10-10-11 (W-D-L) vs Mexico. If you count friendly matches. were 19-12-17. Lastly our all time record vs Mexico is 24-17-37. So as you can clearly see, we don't have any catching up to do. If you count from like 2010 you can see clear USA dominance. It's difficult to apply the same standard to our domestic leagues as our league is restricted by a salary cap and theirs is not.
