Walk up for DC must have been very very strong since they weren't even selling tickets for the upper ticket via ticketmaster on Wednesday.
Either DC United greatly understated the attendance or the Nationals greatly overstate attendance on a regular basis, because I have seen the same size crowds at Nats games when attendance has been announced at 34,000 + I tend to think DCU is announcing a little bit more realistic numbers than the nats...hmmm anything to do with that new stadium and new owners the Nats just got? If only Bud Selieg was the commish of the MLS! He could have even made the 6K fans at KC last night a sell out crowd, just add a zero.
Which is decent considering the tornadoes that were touching down in NE Jackson county(right near Arrowhead) ... and the flash flood warnings in effect until 10PM ... and the inch of water that was flooding accross the Arrowhead parking lot for about 2 hours before the game. But since KC isn't one of the other 11 teams in MLS then we aren't allowed to have excuses for attendance.
It just seems that you guys always have excuses and that you think there isn't inclement weather anywhere else.
Kansas City's excuse is the mother of all excuses - their ownership checked out a while back. You simply can't do this with an executive branch that doesn't feed the franchise. Everything else is just details.
But with all the kids playing there, doesn't anyone realize there is a good to passable team playing within the city? Regardless of advertising, word of mouth should be able to get more than 10k. I know ownership has checked out. It never even showed up in San Jose or Tampa Bay. I wish for the people of KC that Cerner would buy the team now and turn it around. I know that advertising can yield more butts in seats, they have proven that in the past. Did school start in KC today? A school night could also be bad news for attendance
First mistake. Second mistake. As long as it's followed up with actual sales efforts, actual hammer-and-tongs sales like they did a few years back.
But I thought all the kids playing there was the sure sign they could support a team (since they don't have alleys in KC ) Are you telling me it's not?
Someone has to go convince them to come to the games. Else they'll just play in the spaces between houses in the suburbs, since there are no alleys. Actually, I've been to downtown KC, I think there are some alleys. But I don't know how many hispanics and twentysomethings play soccer there. Obviously, not enough.
I think all the school districts in the area started by last Monday. 7:30pm starts on school nights are a problem when the majority of your support comes from families with kids in school. Again, just another example of management checking out from the reality of the situation.
Personally, I am a big fan of the tornado touchdown excuse. Although, I do like the concession stands were packed one a bit better.
Haaaaaaaaaa easy Jefe easy.... And thanks for the rep, although I am pretty sure red might have been the more appropriate color. ALL Attendance excuses amuse me, what can I say. Sue me.
