tangentially related, an interesting article from the Boston Globe on the Red Sox's 723-game "sellout" streak. interesting that they give away 800 complimentary tickets per game in a 37,500-seat venue (2.1% of capacity). http://www.boston.com/news/local/ma...oves_to_be_a_real_numbers_game/?p1=News_links
I blame you, Ed. All this posting about how long it had been since the last sub-10k made the attendance gods angry and they decided to smite us.
Wow, I have none compared with you, and I post here almost every day, lol. You should get paid by BS for adding content.
OK but that's not what you said. You cited seasons of the year and said they don't overlap when they clearly do. Also, you may want to look at the MLS schedule in September, October, November. I see lots of Sundays with MLS games.
To be fair, that NE game was a stinker for attendance. I caught the end of it on tv and it was embarrassing for soccer in NE. And as others have said... I also blame you.
On a small stadium the 500 plus fans would have looked better like the the Pizza Hut.. Go Red Sox fans..
ok so Expect 27k in LA tomorow, oh and San Jose today informed people that 20k have been sold as of today for the June 30th clash between San jose vs LA
Look, we're all Angelinos. Chivas USA's FO organized a vigil for Josh Sounders, the drug user maestro. Hopefully, half of your fan base becomes inspired by Saunders and follows suite. #omgisthisokforthisforum?
I still can't understand why people would even want to attend a Chivas game. A fake brand with a team that isn't even that good. Good for them that they are still getting some attendance, but I don't really understand how they even maintain attendance, lol. Is there something I am not getting here?
They are a team in LA and fans in LA want to watch live soccer and stand the sheer overbearing commercialism that is the LA Galaxy? People are fans of MLS and want to attend an MLS game and it is much easier to do so at a Chivas game than a LA game? People are fans of the Mama Goats and want to support their bastard offspring? Because they have more reason to support them than Chicago Fire fans do, in that Chivas actually has a decent record in their park? Just some thoughts. Who cares why so long as they show up. That is what is important.
Unless they're showing up for Beckham, or fireworks, or a doubleheader because according to some BigSoccer posters those fans aren't important.
I'll agree on the Beckham point. Who wants to show up to a soccer match to see an underware model? The rest all offer opportunities for fan growth. Won't work on their own, but it doesn't hurt either, not to mention the extra cash for the club.
They may have sold that many tickets to the game. That wasn't even close to the attendance. Watch the highlights.
