Can't believe I am saying this, but is San Jose's stadium expandable at all? They sell out every single game.
FCD's number versus their capacity (with HoF construction starting in earnest) has been very good down the stretch................................
I don't think they have hit the max capacity very many times though. Others have made the same comment as you but I am not buying it.
Not selling out a 16.5k stadium when you are in first place is not "very good" by any current MLS standards. FCD is and has long been a poorly supported club.
Shrug. Longer-term FCD fans remember the years when they were average 8-9k a year. So the support has doubled since ~2004. Its fine. Saying FCD isn't one of the most supported clubs in the league isn't rocket science. I urge anybody from other parts of the country to sit in the stands at an FCD game in July/August. It is basically impossible. You're boiled like a lobster. Its miserable no matter how much of a fan you are. The temperature at the start of game time yesterday on October 16 was 90 degrees. All of the fans sit on one side (the "shady" side), which is the side the cameras are on.
The side seen on television, the "loud side," is generally sold first except for a section on the quite side with the cheapest tickets in the stadium that is generally used for away fans close to what used to be La Norte's section nearly behind goal. It's not uncommon for people to move up to shaded areas or move down to the supporters' sections that are mostly GA and often well above capacity. They were blocked off by CSC, but I think they forgot to block off some portals. You regularly see security going to people seated outside of those areas. That's only for the front of some sections in the upper deck. When it's open, I try to watch at least a half from up there. It's a much better view than most of the stadium. I watched the first half from the upper deck on Sunday.
Any chance we are going to see an update to this thread, or should we just wait until next week for season totals?
And let's face it: The Hunts' management and marketing style is the reason why "Move KC" used to be a BigSoccer cliche and no longer isn't.
There is a fairly detailed thread on reddit if you are looking for some totals. https://dd.reddit.com/r/MLS/comments/57xugr/week_32_mls_attendance_target_tracker/
This game had more "attendance" than any DC United game since 2008. So it's natural that it also had more people who were inclined to not attend, I suppose.
If Atlanta draws 35K+ be a help. My guess is it will be close because we are getting to the point where the pool is bigger and harder to move by outliers and many clubs are near or at sell out levels.
I would love to oblige and heaven knows I'll be doing my part. As of right now I'm betting Atlanta pulls in 25-27k. No idea what to expect from Minnesota. A point we've echoed the past 18 months which, frankly, I don't mind since a) these are solid numbers, b) we're not seeing the really low numbers like years past, and c) these are for the most part actual crowds and hopefully not something glossed over by gimmicks or giveaways. If my math is correct every team except Dallas will end the season with an average that exceeds the 6 worst league averages in MLS history. That's a major, major improvement, and I'll gladly take bringing up the rear if we can't see more teams pushing past 25-30k. Compared to when MLS had a few teams hovering at the 12k line this gives sponsors and broadcast partners a lot to cheer about.
11367 in KC for the CCL (meaningless game with KC already eliminated) 16977 in Portland for a decisive match against Saprissa
The original plan was to have the reduced capacity through the 2017 season. I haven't seen anything announced that it would be done sooner. http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2015/...l-soccer-hall-fame-toyota-stadium-renovations
Regarding the Revs expecting 37,000+ for the last game, a lot of that is flex tickets that have to be used. Generally, a lot of youth teams and group sales fall into these categories. Historically, the Revs have always drawn well for the last few home games of the season. In this case, flex tickets would be counted no matter if they are used or not, since they were "distributed." It is probably just as well that we've been eliminated from the playoffs, because if they had won in Chicago and this was a big do-or-die playoff game vs Montreal, it would have only reaffirmed the FO's belief that results don't matter and people will show up no matter what. Keep Heaps as the manager, no need to sign any new (expensive) players over the winter, good enough is good enough...
Doesn't NE get into playoffs if Philadelphia loses 12 - nil and NE wins 1-nil? (or any other combination of a 13 goal difference swing in favour of NE?
