Spoke with a representative from MLSNET.com and the game will definitely be played on July 31st @ Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass.

Tickets for this event WILL go tentatively going on sale May 24th, however this date is not concrete yet.

He did not say that. The date for the All-Star game is concrete. The date that tickets go on sale is NOT concrete.

Garber needs to go out on a date with Beckham first so he can see what real American fanatics are like... ok that was a little low. LOL

No. That may not be done untill Real Madrid clinches at least 2nd place in La Liga. If they finish 3rd they will have to participate in the Uefa qualifyers which would take place during the proposed US/Asian tour .

I hope things work out for the best interest of MLS.

No, MLS has not officially announced the All-star opponent. But according to a thread on the SJ boards, an e-mail from the Quakes was sent out announcing that the home game originally scheduled for 7:00 PM on September 4 vs New England has been moved to July 24, which was the original date for the All-star game. It appears that plans are in motion to re-arrange the MLS schedule to accomodate Real Madrid.

yeah, I hope so too. although watching another a#@ kickin of a mexican team would still be fun.

although, after m. mouse's post, maybe a puerto rican team would work.

Right... NO TEAM has been officially announced, BUT Real Madrid are the forseeable candidates unless UEFA qualifying keeps them out.

MLSNET.com was extremely helpful in answering my queries as best they could. If anyone has further questions, just shoot them an email...

    hmmm is right...

I am wondering if all three of those teams are in the States during the same timeframe, perhaps will we see some more Real games scheduled against Man U and/or Milan?? How interesting would Real v. Man U be witht he whole Becks v. Sir Alex thing looming?

don't bank on seeing Real Madrid vs. ManU here in the the States this summer. the Real tour (if it fits their schedule) is promoted by MLS/SUM while ManU and Milan and others will be here on the ChampionsWorld tour. two separate groups who have separate agendas and very little desire to work together.

ok, so, if the galacticos of real madrid can beat four win murcia and finish 2nd thus qualifying automatically for champions league play they'll come stateside and take on the mls all-stars? I like our chances.

    So.....

After today's loss by Real Madrid and Barcelona's win, Real are now 3rd in the tables with one match remaining. The chances of an MLS All-start v. Real Madrid game on July 31 at Foxboro are dwindling as we speak.

Madrid needs to win huge couple with a draw from Barcelona. No liking those odds. WTF has happened to Real Madrid and Bayern Munich this year?!!! To of the most storied clubs in European history (do I need to add Man U to that list as well?)...

Key words in the first sentence like "Mandates from the Chicago Park District and the rescheduling of the Major League All-Star Game ".

Should we all pummel (electronically, of course) Cleat/less for jinxing our chances of an MLS vs Real Madrid with his post on the previous page?

Just kidding of course. It will be a bit depressing if the Real game can't happen, now that we've gotten our hopes up.

    Uhh, reading comprehension.....

You shouldn't become a lawyer. Nowhere is it implied that the game is switching to Chicago. Re-read it again...

If it's not going to be Real Madrid, and it appears fairly certain it will not, then who might be considered to take their place? Would Arsenal be available then? Would they be interested?

Maybe Chelsea. Originally the first rumors i heard about a mls all star game opponent were Chelsea, and being as they automatically qualified for the champs league scheduling shouldnt be a problem.
