Has 2003 MLS All Stars Match arranged?

If not, how about MLS vs Iraqi National Team. I think it will be good for MLS and good for soccer PR.

It gets really embarrasing when someone I know who doesn't go on bigsoccer finds out.

how bout ankle biters vs tall people. Its the only way to get Richie Williams and Erza Hendrickson in an All star game.

    MLS 200 - 0 Iraq

Match abandoned after 60 minutes due to lack of untortured Iraqi substitutions

Seriously, the MLS All-Star game is the absolute biggest waste of time of the season. The sooner MLS drops it , the better.

I think we should get SOME national team to play the MLS All-Stars. No more of this East-West conference rivalry at the ASG.

In the end, though, it may not really matter as I'll watch it whatever it is. :)

Soccer is soccer, guys. And I would think that despite all this time we're still beggars and not choosers. Since when did we get to be so picky about what soccer is played and televised?

He's got a good point. One fewer all-star game = one fewer nationally-televised MLS game. And for those who think goals=fans (I'm not one of them), this game should be a bonanza...

I know the all-star game means goals galore usually, but the fact that the game essentially means nothing, that there really is no point to the game, to me makes it totally inconsequential. What makes a great match is the physical intensity brought about by two sides that have something to play for, that the game has meaning and importance. The all-star game has none of this. I know that it is one of MLS' few network broadcasts, it's just too bad that a meaningless exhibition game gets sucj a coveted slot.

i think mls should seriously consider what mlb is doing with their all star game. they have said that winner of the all star game(AL/NL) gets homefield advantage in the world series. this would make the players play harder in the all star game, but most importantly, drive up attendance in MLS Cup. New England showed us last year what a home town team does for attendance, and the year before that, MLS cup couldn't even fill up Crew Stadium because the two teams in it were from California. I doubt many people will agree with me, but i see it as something that very well could happen down the road.

It would also render the actual MLS season virtually meaningless.

It's a sport. Every game is more or less meaningless relative to, well, everything else in the world. Except that the All-Star Game is the league's advertisement to the mainstream that, yes, soccer does exist, and that you can find the all of the league's best showcased in this one game, but hey look! They also play all season long at a stadium near you, so why don't you, after watching us on ABC, take your family to an MLS game?

The All-Star Game is not unimportant.

I've no problem with an All-Star game being played. It's usually a waste of time, but it is a commercial for the league and ABC does manage to lower itself and show it.

What I don't like is some whore doing halftime "entertainment" to keep young idiots watching, as if it were the Stupid...er, I mean, Super Bowl (also usually a waste of time).

By the way, did any of you ultra-nationalists lower your own selves and check out the Mexican All-Star Game on Telemundo Wednesday night. NO? I'm shocked, shocked! Anyway, you didn't miss anything for once. They take the game about as seriously as MLS players do. Get this: The highlight was the former beloved MLS great Luis Hernandez scoring on a penalty kick! What the hell was he doing in this game in the first place? He's been shot for years.

    I could not agree less.

We are lucky to get 3 games a year on ABC and I don't want to give one of them up because Iit doesn't count in the standings.

Peopel who make fun of me for the 0-0 US v Mexico game have in the past seen bits of the All Star game and said that it was "pretty good" and "why can't soccer be like that all the time".

Baseball's All Star game has been pretty popular and those fans are filled with purists who don't seem to mind an exhibtion which draws ineterest from non-regular fans.

You anti-MLS All Star Game people need to shut the hell up. Your arguments aren't worth crap and pale in comparison to the benefits and the reality of American Sports.

Lets move on to more pressing issues, liek teh robotic use of all road white uniforms.
