It would be nice to have a place to keep track of all these young Academy players that specifically came from a MLS Academy. I thought this is the right place for a thread like this. I am thinking this thread would be strictly for MLS academy players that sign their first pro contract abroad. I am not an expert on this topic, so I could use help in compiling a list... here is the start of it. Don't know how technical you want to get, but Guerrero's connection to the Timbers MLS academy seems pretty thin. As far as I know it's limited to some matches with their PDL team a few seasons before the club joined the league.
This is a good call... maybe this list should limit the players to guys that at least spent 1 year training in a MLS academy environment.

I don't plan to have an age restriction in this list... eventually the list will become close to complete and occasionally a new name will be added. If this lists gets out of hand I could do a google spread sheet list like the YA transfer thread does.
Nice. The name to keep track of for a potential imminent move is Weston McKennie (FCD to potentially Schalke). I've also been keeping an eye out for Cam Lindley of the Chicago Fire. He was training with Vitesse in Holland recently. For kids this age any training session is also a trial

Do HGP who get dropped before the season start count. Thorsheim would have been on a HGP contract before he went to Middelfart. I'd count them but just making sure. Mael Corboz is now with Duisburg too, but he played a few games with Wilmington Hammerheads. I found an article (http://www.onceametro.com/2016/9/13...r-development-weston-mckennie-derrick-etienne) that says in addition to those listed Cannouse (Hoffenheim loaned to Bochum), Weah (PSG), Kyle Gruno (Leicester), and Noah Leeds (Seville) all were HG eligible for NYRB. Take what information you please from this. I bet if someone has a list of all foreign based players in the U20 pools of the last couple years we could find a ton. Off the top of my head Shaq Moore played with Houston.
Yes, I think the HGP who gets dropped should be added too. If player leaves on their own or if they get dropped MLS still is spending time and money on a player and losing out on their investment.

This may just be semantics but do we have any confirmation that Naphaus has signed a pro deal? It's my understanding that most if not all of U17 players have, at most, some kind of "pre-deal" but does not carry the significance of a full pro deal.
