I don't really get it. But hell, I'll watch it. More soccer please. Jordan Morris with that game-winning goal on the road last night for Seattle over LAFC. He's gunning for his 3rd MLS Cup. Stefan Frei was immense too. They have quite a good American core to this team. By the way, Reed Baker-Whiting starts and is probably one we don't talk about enough. 1860566824867229740 is not a valid tweet id 1860575403057860827 is not a valid tweet id
Morris gets better in the playoffs. He killed FCD several times. He's a crunch time, big game guy. Still rememember a last second goal for the US in a scrum. Gold Cup at the Death Star.
Don't forget his header to save a result in the El Salvador Mud Bowl. RBW ended up playing most of the game as a left wing back and did exactly what we needed. A couple of shaky moments but also some good passing. The tactical wrinkle of us going to 5 atb (somewhat influenced by Nouhou being stuck in Cameroon and Rothrock injured) helped us a lot plus LAFC insisting on playing Giroud when they kill us with Bogusz as a false 9 instead. Our defense and Frei had a monster performance today and when Yeimar went out injured Ragen really anchored it for us. We're the most complete team left (Galaxy has better top end but their defense is far worse) so I'm suddenly very optimistic after breaking the 10 game no win streak against LAFC (3.5 years!)
It's so funny to watch this guy throughout a match. Everything he does is hilarious. 1860492801210769756 is not a valid tweet id Maxi should know Tolkin's King of the Hobbits, & he's got to respect his place in the Shire.
Nah. If you stay in MLS long enough, you're doing for some ups and down as a coach. Losing the conference semifinal isn't a sign of the apocalypse in a league built on parity. Columbus was eliminated even earlier. Is Nancy's star also fading? Nah. Oscar Pareja is back up now. Of course Orlando has to be one of the least interesting teams in MLS for USMNT fans. McGuire didn't even play today. Who picked Orlando versus NYRB in the Eastern Conference final?
Orlando is one of the least interesting teams for anyone who's not an Orlando fan. Watching them I always think: "how is this team winning?"
Ocar Pareja. El Profe. In terms of results he's turned that team around. But it has to be one of the most nondescript starting XIs in the league. Its worth noting that the Orlando academy had a pretty strong season. U19s were really good. [And they've now partnered with Sporting Lisbon.] Their MLS Next team finished 5th in the East. Not bad. Its taking a while for Pareja and company to build Orlando into the type of academy production line that he had in Dallas. ...............but there are tiny hints that its coming.
Tip of the cap to one heck of a career to a player from Florida. Dax McCarty's career ended with Atlanta's loss yesterday. Drafted by FC Dallas in 2006!!! Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he finishes with the 3rd most appearances all-time in the league behind only Nick Rimando and Kyle Beckerman. Never won MLS Cup but won two Supporter's Shields with NYRB. Part of our 2007 U20 World Cup team and 2008 Olympic team. Won the 2017 Gold Cup with the USMNT. Part of a ridiculous era of riches for the USMNT in central midfield, or he would have had more USMNT caps. Just for example, our 2008 Olympic team alone had all of Michael Bradley, Stuart Holden, Maurice Edu, Sacha Kljestan, Benny Feilhaber, Danny Szetela, and Dax McCarty. [For those of you that want to feel old, we're down to only one active player from that team. Brad Guzan.]
Steve also lost to the other hottest team in MLS, Seattle hasn’t lost in months. I know people are afraid to say it because they worry it might cause an unwanted call up but, Seattle moved Cristian to 6 and has been the best team in the league. Morris, Vargas, Rusnak and others have been hurt and missed games, Cristian Roldan has been as steady as central air. Look who kept the ball in the box for the game winner.
He’s a big athlete. Even at 19 he runs right through a lot of challenges. I’m probably going to rewatch the game but there was at least one moment where he matched up with Olivera ,who gets games with Uruguay and just took the ball off him.
Wouldn't that that be ironic and cause just a tiny bit of a stir around here? Even if it didn't work out, it would be worth it just to see the reactions and controversy......
