Sealy and Kamungo both involved in the Dallas goal last night.
Sealy's breakout we saw as a possibility during pre-season, but now its starting to look like reality. If we made a list of surprise inclusions on the Olympic squad, he'd be one. Wing depth starting to look really deep in that U23 group, though.

US-eligible players have gotten 34% of the starts thus far. That's not bad considering the expansion of the league and of the salaries. It's also not bad considering most of the top 30 American players ply their trade outside the US.

So far, 15 U20 US-eliigible players have received minutes. The total number for all of last season was about 48. For last season's Eredivisie, the number was 30 Netherlands-eligible players*. For last season's EPL, the number was 16 England-eligible players*.

    Good information, and thank you.

Fwiw, I think the PL is a terrible comparison. I would wager it has among the lowest domestic-eligible participants of any first division league. And, they have a damn good league, the Championship, to augment their pool.

Lastly, I think a goal of the league (in the eyes of the Fed) should be providing a place where US-eligibles can earn a good living playing soccer.

Nevertheless, good info, and thank you.

I hadn't made any claims vis-a-vis the EPL.

The CB position has shown improved depth compared to last season when far fewer US players made the list at that position.

The forward position has been weak.

Luna is continuing his run from the end of last season.

    Ditto, Guttierez.

It's good to see a player, like Marco Delgado, who was never close to being a National Team regular get $800K. Bodes well for the league and the US pool.

Those two goals were pretty special. Forwards mature later. Tall forwards mature even more slowly. Just sayin.

Looking at his wikipedia page, the guy has put in the work. He's a great example of a guy finally getting an opportunity. My unpopular opinion is that there are likely more Sam's out there that are getting squashed by DP's. We'll see how Sam does this season.

Are you sure about that? I recall that was Kevin Payne and his daughter not Bruce Arena and Kenny.

It seems like he's been around forever, but he's only 28.

Marky Delgado is one of those players that's been very good.................but just below national team level in his prime. He does have 6 USMNT caps. Nothing to sneeze at.

    Part of that much-maligned 2011 U17 cycle.
That whole generation that led to a talent shortage 5 years later.

Delgado didn't end up making that U17 World Cup roster.
[I forget why. He was at Bradenton and part of the group. Injury?]
Only two players on that roster even got senior USMNT caps.
The two youngest members of the team. Kellyn Acosta and Paul Arriola. They were brought in and playing "up a cycle."

If there's any roster in the history of our USYNTS that's a "who's who" of disappointments its that 2011 U17 World Cup squad.

There's guys on that roster people haven't thought about IN YEARS. Stevie Rodriguez. Mobi Fehr. Alfred Koroma.

Then, of course, we followed that up by failing to qualify for the 2013 U17 World Cup. And only 3 members of the 2013 CONCACAF Championships roster have senior caps. Rubio Rubin, Corey Baird, and Shaq Moore.

If people want to see the impact of the MLS HG initiative and the USSF DA, after it came into full swing......................its the difference between the 2011/2013 U17 teams and the 2015 one. There are now 10 players on the 2015 team with at least one senior international cap. And other good professional players in the group like Johnny Nelson.

Half of the 2011 team doesn't have wikipedia pages. Half the 2015 team has senior international caps. If somebody wants to write a book on the youth soccer revolution, start with that premise. What was happening at the youth levels that led to a dramatic difference between 2011 and 2015?

Delgado started for us in finals of U20's at the 6 with Miazga, CCV, Arriola, et al.

Delgado just wasn't a Berhalter player. He called him into his first Jan camp and cut him forthwith. The guy who plays like Delgado is Johnny which is worrisome because Berhalter may not understand what he is doing at which point we may end up with 3 dmids again and a team that doesn't have offense.

Delgado just needs to go to Spain and kick some ass. Actually god advice to any young player to do in a top 4 Euro league.

I know our forward situation is pretty much sorted but curious if McGuire, white, JeBo can do enough to keep camp cupcake looks. McGuire is probably never going to want to go to England ever again tho lol

And huge win for the Revolution last night in CCC.
4-0 over Alajuelense at home in the first leg.

Recap | Chancalay strikes twice as Revs roll to 4-0 win in first leg of Champions Cup Rd of 16 vs. Alajuelense | New England Revolution (revolutionsoccer.net)
After withstanding early pressure from Alajuelense, the Revolution took the lead in the 28th minute when DeJuan Jones combined with Nick Lima for the opening tally, his first goal with New England since joining the club in the offseason. The right back later added an assist on Bajraktarević’s second-half strike, with the Homegrown midfielder tapping in a cross from Lima to ice New England’s victory.

Noel Buck came on in the second half to replace captain Matt Polster.

That New England team, by the way, might do some damage this year if things break their way. Good mix of foreign players, solid domestic veterans, and exciting young guys. Coach that's won in MLS in two different places.

This should be applauded. It's not that long ago that beating a Costa Rican team like this would never happen. MLS is becoming a bully in CONCACAF. The Mexican league has noticed and started signing players away.

There's no doubt. You and I remember the days when MLS clubs routinely got beaten badly by Central American teams. Heck, I remember Joe Public of T&T blowing the doors off of New England in 2008. [Joe Public, by the way, no longer exists. It was owned by Jack Warner. His demise led to their demise.]

Its even a little bit of a victory in the other game last night.

    Tigres 0 Orlando 0

Tigres was the runner-up in the Apertura. They went to Orlando, and couldn't win. Shots were Orlando 10 Tigres 6. From reports it sounds like although Tigres won the possession battle, Orlando had the better chances.

A 0-0 home draw in a first leg isn't the best possible result obviously, but it's not the worst result in the world either.

[And yes, Orlando got their doors blown off by Inter Miami..............and then held the Liga MX Apertura runners-up.]
