And that is just that crooked "announced attendance" it is clear in my eyes attendance so far is negative
Not a good week for Dignity Health Sports Park as a National Team host... 9,172 for the men's team vs Costa Rica and 11,292 for the women's team vs Mexico with the Olympics on the line.
I expected the men´s attendance, they suck and they played against the smallest central american population in the US. However I am extremely surprised of the women´s attendance. They kick ass and they were playing against Mexico in LA! what happened?
Honestly, the men's attendance was par for the course for this friendly and this type of roster. I personally didn't prioritize going to it over my kid's little league or soccer matches. As for the women, not sure it was publicized much. Not sure the average fan realized this was a full roster competitive match that meant something. I also think that people out here are accustomed to going to soccer matches in march through November. I think it takes more effort to draw outside those windows.
You know, if I was going to catch one game this weekend, I would have chosen the "final" too. I wonder how many people realized that the meaningful match would be the semi final.
I think it was the fact that this was on a weekend. Nothing more than that. Also this is basically a CONCACAF final, so not entirely meaningless.
Carson did much better than the equivalent rounds of the CONCACAF qualifying for the World Cup in 2018 in Frisco. 7555 for the semifinal WCQ clincher vs. Jamaica (Sunday night) and 6986 for the final vs. Canada (Wednesday night). These tournaments tend to lag in attendance behind most USWNT home friendlies because CONCACAF is running the show and is much worse at promoting them than USSF/SUM is.
Inter Miami sold out their first game (to be expected) and tickets for games 2 and 3 went on sale today about an hour ago and both games look to be about 70% sold at this point. They also announced they only have 1,000 season tickets left, as of yesterday. Not sure what that means as far as hard numbers but ticket sales seem to be strong. Internacional Miami CF certainly is already more popular than the Fusion ever were. I see more bumper stickers and t-shirts around town than I did in four years of the Fusion existing and they haven't even played a real match yet.
It only took until February 8 for a "ermergherd der sker is ferllering" attendance post by crookeddy. 3 weeks before the season starts and his spam is already tiresome.
The XFL's WiIdcats actually debuted at the Diggity with 14,979 so the Galaxy will almost certainly end up drawing much better than their secondary Football counterparts. Other games in MLS Stadiums: DC Defenders with 17,163 and 15,031 at Audi Field, Seattle Dragons with 29,172 at CenturyLink Field. Looks like all MLS teams sharing a stadium with the XFL will have higher attendance than their football counterparts.
