Yes, I was confused when I looked up and saw a different LA on the screen. O LA!!!! BWUHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I have a hard time believing that a defense as porous as the Galaxy's is going to be good enough to win MLS Cup. When they ship goals, they ship them in a major way.
The West is still up in the air for home seeds as well at this point. Every RSL can finish anywhere from 3rd to 5th (Seattle and Minnesota playing each other means they can't get 2nd) while Seattle, Minnesota, and LAG can finish anywhere from 2nd to 5th.
Ditto Philly. They only have 6 clean sheets, and have also been shutout 8 times (despite scoring 57 goals this season). They are good at home, but are very susceptible on the counter. Would not be shocked if they crash out in the first round.
They were playing as if it was a must-win game and had pushed everyone forward. Really bizarre tactics.
If I've counted right SJ has gone 5-11-4 this year against teams that are currently in play-off spots. And since game 20 when they beat LA in the California Classico they have 6 losses in 6 games against play-off teams. Since the beginning of August they are 2-8-1 (7 points). In that same stretch the Rapids are 7-3-1 (22 points). Heck, the Rapids have 40 points from their last 22 games. If they managed go 1-8-2 in their first 11 instead of 0-9-2 they'd be in the play-offs right now. If they sneak into the play-offs (and they have to beat LAFC in LA to do that and get help) then I'm not sure any team will want to play them. If they win next week then they will have averaged 1.86 PPG in the last 23 games. NYCFC is sitting at 1.85 PPG right now. For 2/3rds of the season they have been one of the best teams in the league and they still might miss the play-offs because they were absolutely dreadful under Hudson. So, when people say early season MLS games don't matter? Well.....they sort of do. Edit: Also, in their first 11 games they gave up 30 goals. Their last 22? 30 goals. I'm pretty sure we could teach a course on how NOT to coach a team by looking at what Hudson had the Rapids doing compared to what Casey and Fraser have had them doing.
I think Fernandez's red card was a bit unlucky. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...ity-2-portland-timbers-2-2019-mls-match-recap
I forgot about the FIBA Women's AmeriCup Final that was happening during the late games. The Final was over when I started watching. They were showing Canadian highlights so I was angry Canada beat the US in the Final. I watched the game from the beginning mad about everything. It wasn't until late in the third quarter that I realized it was very unlikely that Canada actually won. The leading scorer on Canada scored 12. Jordin Canada scored 11 for the US. I was waiting for that the entire tournament. A woman with the last name Canada scored more than most Canadians.
Rapids also quietly have the third best offense in the league, behind just LAFC and NYCFC. (And we beat LAFC in Colorado this year, so a win next week isn't out of the question. We won't get the help we need though)
If San Jose win in Portland and Dallas fail to best SKC in Frisco, San Jose qualify in place of Dallas. If San Jose win in Portland and Dallas beat SKC, San Jose qualify in place of Portland. At least I think that's what can happen.
