WTF is up with Alan Green? The hair, the accent, the clothes; he's like a real-life Austin Powers knock-off.
No, but you can really say that with any DOGSO attempt. I think that it is normally better for a ref to stick to the letter of the law then to just use them as guidelines. What would the reaction be if an Atlanta player comes out in the second half and got a red card offence? Now instead of it being 10 v 9 it'd be 10 v 10 because he chose to be lenient with the application of the rules. This game is dead and buried but look at it the other way. It goes 10 v 10 in the situation that Toledo doesn't send the Revs player off. The Revs then score 4 unanswered and tie the game. The talking point would be Toledo not sending the player off and people would be calling for his head. That is why I'd rather see the ref stick with what the rules say. That said, I know what you are saying and I know why you are saying it. Part of me would even agree except for I've seen how fans react to the way refs are when they "make up rules".
Atlanta has no interest in exerting more energy at this point, so I guess I can watch something else before the Vancouver/Minnesota game.
The ball, after striking the leg, was going to sky over the crossbar. It would have been a great defensive block if not for the outstretched arm to handle it.
No announcer, it's not humiliating to give up 6 when playing with 9 men for most of the game. There's really not much you can do. If you were up 2 men and lost by 6, then you would truly be humiliated.
In past seasons, playing up 2 men and losing by 6 might have been less humiliating, given the MLS shorthanded advantage that seems to suddenly no longer be in effect this season.
