That was not a 9 yellow card game. Hopefully that crew is done for the tournament. Erik Palmer-Brown was a monster. He'll need to be again in the next game with all the missing players. I wonder how often a FIFA men's World Cup at any level has a group with zero European teams. The dropoff from Sargent to Sabbi was incredible. Apparently sometime in the last decade they passed a rule so that nobody can play in both the U17 and U20 World Cups in the same year. We basically need to get to the Quarterfinals or beyond to justify taking Sargent off of the U17s squad. Speaking of which, hopefully Sargent isn't really injured.
I LOL. Does anyone think JJ will do anything other than piss in the pot unless he is allowed to do what he wants? Does anyone think he will have any respect for Onalfo if doesn't get his way? Nothing good will happen here.....well, it will be good if you hate the Gals or enjoy the drama. Then it will be great.
In the US youth forums folks seem to believe the rules have been changed. They quoted a bunch of rules and such saying he can play U17. Who knows. Thank goodness I tape all US matches now (thanks JK). There is a real benefit to it when you run into matches like this. Just speed through the torture. I never blame refs (what a thankless job), and having read many intelligence reports I understand how crooked the game is overall. Outside of top sides in the top leagues it is beyond depressing. That is how 90% of the world does business so no one should be shocked. This ref fit the bill. Smart and calculated how he called it. From sending Jones off for a none head injury to receive treatment, when no one came out to see him (played right into SA counterattack possibilities with us a man down)...to early window dressing cards for all....only to single out a linchpin pin to our team. After that we saw all of the same fouls called in half one ignored. Even waving away the Jones yellow suspension card as part of what happens at a tourney, it was all simply very convenient. The ref was smart. He was sharp and calculated. He knew exactly what he was doing. Hope he spends his cash well. Not sour grapes....just the way it is.
To be fair, Onalfo hasn't had a full squad once this season. I like to make fin of Onalfo, but LA has been decent. Even in those Chicago and Portland games where they played with a Los Dos line up, they played with a lot of fight and didn't give up. Onalfo might not be the best coach long term. But after losing a GM/Coach in November and the retirement/release of long term players, he might be the best person for the 1-2 year change
He's now freed up to call the CL final. (Actually he had already been announced to do that) Is it bad that I'm hoping he's going to be in Denver to call the T&T game just so I can try to get my Blackburn jersey autographed?
Little follow-up to point out something obvious. LAG has gone full Chivas USA here, meaning they're better away than at home. And not just full Chivas USA, but way more Chivas USA than Chivas USA ever was. LAG is doing a whopping 1.17 PPG better away than at home. That's crazy. The other team that's doing better away than at home? DCU, with a mere 0.40 PPG deficit.
Id recommend the stream but experience reminds me that the pre-empted program also gets pre-empted on the stream... very annoying
Hang with us...we'll keep you abreast of things (maybe...I actually mowed my yard rather than watch the last 25 minutes of Seattle-Portland...the game was that dull).
so wait, they bumped the professional sport, their partner in trying to create mls as a big 5 pro league to espnews in favor of womens college softball? what is this 2001?
Just 9 minutes in, but NYC looks more likely to score first....game's been pretty active for both teams, so far.
