Thoughts: --NYCFC has to have the slowest starting 11 in the league. Lampard will make them even slower. --Am I the only one who thinks pumping crosses into Kamara's target-fwd head all the time is a downgrade for Columbus? That should be an option, not the first option. It certainly wasn't where he played at SKC, or how he got his headers there (more back post runs from out wide). --Most disappointing has to be David Villa. --Most surprisingly impressive--Ike Opara. Let's hope he stays injury-free. --Owen Coyle's Houston proves that an emphasis on wide play doesn't have to be boring or one-dimensional (please take note Dom).
I agree with NYFC looking very slow. Maybe Orlando is faster than we think, or they were so pumped the adrenaline pushed them through most of the match. It is definitely something to keep an eye out for, and yes I was thinking the same thing....Lampard ain't gonna help much.
I was tempted to respond myself but I decided I just didn't want to go down that rabbit hole. Regardless, your response was more succinct and polite than what I would have done.
Captain Obvious' work is never done. He brings needed context to all discussions. As long as people cite unweighted averages or statistics to try to prove or make a point, Captain Obvious will be there. Hotels.com knows what's up.
I wish there were a few more goals but otherwise a marvelous opening weekend. Plenty of spectacle, lots of action, good competitive games and just enough quality to occasionally take your breath away.
Last summer's Week X had 4,551 replies. There were, however, extenuating circumstances with that thread.
And once more your sarcasm meter is broken, the whole damn thing was hyperbole, so either you are the worlds best straight man playing all of us or...
I know I'm going to regret this but you see, you didn't bring any needed context to the discussion. The other poster, using minimal data, declared the East was taking it to the West and was now dominant. After a few more games were played I responded by drawing attention to the fact that his/her declaration was premature. You then piped in to say we should wait till later in the season to make declarations. Your comment, apparently addressed to me, was just restating what my comment was already implying (hence the Captain Obvious comment). You didn't bring any needed context at all. You effectively were restating what I said all while phrasing it in a manner that suggested I wasn't aware of what I was actually saying! Now, please don't make me regret this post.
So NYCFC is next week.. They claim over 60% of STH are new to "any" sport.. What do we recommend to enhance their experience? Find the Binocular salesman or dont bother since everyone at the stadium will be watching on their portable... We arent too far away from more expansion news, screw the map and regional nonsense.. Just add whomever is ready for the leap... Promote them and cite them as an example..
Is that "new season ticket holder"? Because if so, I don't know why anyone would find that surprising. I've followed a number of sports insanely close over the last 25 years, and the only season tickets I've ever owned were for the Red Bulls. I probably would have owned Jets season tickets in the 95-05 range if the waiting list hadn't been a decade long. By the time I was offered tickets I had stopped following football.
