I always like it when the calendar rolls around and we get to the first continuous play-by-play thread of the new season, but this one is particularly sweet. Props to everyone who avoided angering the Jinx Gods by not starting this too soon. All times for Friday and Saturday games are EST, while the Sunday games are listed at EDT (yes, we have a time change this weekend). All games are broadcast on MLS Live and DirectKick unless otherwise noted. Friday 6 March Chicago at Los Angeles, 10:00, UniMas Saturday 7 March Montreal at DC United, 3:00 Colorado at Philadelphia, 4:00 Toronto at Vancouver, 6:00 Columbus at Houston, 8:30 San Jose at Dallas, 8:30 Salt Lake at Portland, 10:30 Sunday 8 March New York City at Orlando, 5:00, ESPN2 New York Red Bulls at Kansas City, 7:00, Fox Sports 1 New England at Seattle, 9:30, Fox Sports 1 As always, keep it friendly here in the neutral PBP thread.
If you happen to be new to the weekly PBP thread or need a refresher, it might be handy to have some clarifications on friendly and neutral. Neutral does not mean you cannot root for or be happy about good things happening to your favorite club; it does mean being able to see things from various perspectives and being willing to see some nuance in calls, plays, and games. Being friendly refers to more than just polite interchange but also not making the thread about you, meaning don't overdo any good thing (such as gifs, anime, BruceFace photos, and the like). But please join in.
The best soccer thread in the history of the universe. I've spent the off-season compiling good Danny Cruz jokes. I'm ready.
The amount of baseball jokes during NYCFC home games might be a temporary replacement of your retired Chivas line until Sacramento makes it to the league, then you can fill DC in the blank of "How will __ disappoint me yet again?"
Does anyone know who the English announcers will be on UniMas? I can get by listening in Spanish, but I was just curious.
I waited until after a new cba was signed, but I'll be getting MLS Live for the first time this year. Excited for HD quality and not having to play whack-a-mole with pop ups on shady websites this year.
Why would they, they came to an agreement and aren't going to strike! Oh, you mean the Philly Union. Well, can't say they are likely to strike many goals, so get the Prozac ready.
