With over 3000 posts in the Week 15 thread, it's time for Week X - some Open Cup and some World Cup, on through next Sunday and the eve of the final round of group games. As always, keep it friendly here in the neutral PBP thread. Except it isn't really neutral where the USNT is concerned.
That sounds dirty. And the Cosmos! (Damn Metros ... ) Anyway, let's post the "Week X" schedule here since some of us actually use that ... The World Cup Schedule Also upcoming ... USL Pro Schedule NASL Schedule (Given all their holier and more authentic than MLS purity bullshit, you have to wonder why the NASL isn't taking a World Cup hiatus like ... oh ... MLS.) Tuesday, June 17 7:00 PM - Philadelphia vs Harrisburg (USOC) 7:05 PM - Rochester vs D.C. United (USOC) 7:30 PM - Columbus vs Indy Eleven (USOC) 9:00 PM - Colorado vs Orlando City (USOC) 9:00 PM - FC Dallas vs San Antonio (USOC) 10:30 PM - Portland vs Orlando U23s (USOC) Wednesday, June 18 7:00 PM - Richmond vs New England (USOC) 8:30 PM - Chicago vs Pittsburgh (USOC) 8:30 PM - Sporting KC vs Minnesota (USOC) 10:00 PM - Seattle vs PSA Elite (USOC) 10:30 PM - Arizona vs LA Galaxy (USOC) Friday, June 20 10:30 PM - Sacramento vs Colorado Reserves (USL Pro/MLS Reserves) And this here's a baby ocelot to help calm your pre-Ghana nerves. If that doesn't work, there's always your best buddy bourbon.
Reading through the other thread, seeing comments about brackets being blown up on Yahoo...I'm currently sitting in the 98th percentile overall, 5th in the BigSoccer group. Get 'em, Beckerman's Dreads.
Thank you for this thread. I have an embarrassing number of posts in the last one and now I've wasted my first post saying thank you. ******** you all. Go USA!
Today is about to be a long and unproductive day at work. Already can't wait for this game and it's still 9 hours away.
Well today is when the World Cup goes from fun and games to actually being something that is going to cause my mental anguish at times. Glad I got to enjoy the last few days at least.
My prediction: USA gets a red card between the 30th and 40th minutes. Ghana wins 2-0. There, now I won't be disappointed!
Do what I did...take a personal day to watch the World Cup! In fact, I took 4 (today and tomorrow and the last two days of the group stage). It's rained here for the past two hours, so there's no way for me to mow the yard today
I wanted to. Really bad. But I have to make the 13 hour drive to Kansas for a wedding next month so only was able to take a half day for the US/Germany game. Still plenty of time to get to the bar by 6 though, I'm just hoping they don't cause me to drink too much
God help us if Ghana wins 2-1. I could see all the Mexican fans sporting "2-1" Ghanaian shirts the next time they meet USA in a friendly or qualifier. That would probably cancel out our "Dos a Cero" apparrel.
I've always liked the German anthem. Very dignified. Of course, they have one or two well-known composers to draw upon.
So, is anybody else watching a 1" x 1.5" video stream from Univision on their work computer, so their boss doesn't see what they're doing?
I'm glad this game is finally on, because I need a distraction from my nerves. Working from home + USA-Ghana later has made this a very unproductive day.
