It was stupid on Sapong's part. Was it a red? No, of course not, but don't put yourself in that position. I thought Myers should've been carded for the blatant elbow, but he got nothing.

 

OK, SKC is down to ten men, and up by 2 goals, and Vermes is bringing in Bunbury. Really? Just play defense, take your 3 points, and get the hell out of there.

 

Don't put yourself in that position is what people say to apologize for bad refereeing. That red was a sign of a ref who saw his name in the headlines.

 

RSL fans show up, and across multiple competitions and for the good old USofA. They seem to not be into the whole supporter culture thing. The stadium is neither jammed behind the goals, nor is the announced crowd disguised as empty seats at midfield. God bless them, especially if they keep showing up.

Would a bad refereeing decision have occurred if Sapong didn't kick the ball at him? The card was harsh, but nothing would have been assigned had Sapong not done anything.

 

lack of alcohol and supporter culture aren't the best mix. Some RSL supporter on this site explained it. RSL fans are more interested in watching the game (talking about the game, tactics, players) than getting pissed and singing songs. And while I kinda prefer to do drink and yell, I do get the alternative as well.

 

You're assuming it's intentional. I think he may have just been passing it over not realizing the guy's getting up.
