Figure a thread on the season in general would be good. Ill start off with this: Did anyone think ESPN made a big deal of of nothing with Miguel Tejada? They acted like they had blown the whistle on something hugh? and continued to talk about it even when everyone else just gave a shrug. Also anyone else think the Marlins are for real? For all the criticism they receive they know how to build a team from scratch.
It is a big deal, I just dont give a shit because it happened to a Quadruple A team. And if by building a team from scratch you mean building a team by being cheap bastards and trading away everyone with value, I agree. For real? doubt it
I don't know, only one team has won more world series then the marlins since the strike. For all the money the Mets have spent I'm still waiting to see their first world series in my living memory.
I love the "drama" behind the Tejada thing. They busted a few Major Leaguers a few years ago about forged birth certificates. I remember Rey Ordonez ended up being 2 yrs older than he really was. And who gives a shit? The reporter was pounding away at Tejada with this air of superiority as if he was the host of "To Catch A Predator". Dumbass. You think the Astros give a shit that he's 2 years older or that he's a washed up juicer?
All-Star voting has begun. Ticket prices and lottery information have been released. The prices are outrageous. From the N.Y. Post:
Theyre even worse on stub hub. I'd rather put that money to go to 3 or 4 real games as opposed to one exhibition game.
John Smoltz is lost for the season with shoulder surgery. His career may be over. I'd put this in the Braves thread, but there isn't one.
It was clear before, Bud. How does setting different rules for certain games make things clearer? How stupid!
From the Associated Press: Joe Gordon was involved in one of the biggest one-for-one deals in baseball history, being traded by the Yankees to the Indians in exchange for pitcher Allie Reynolds (the "Super Chief") after the 1946 season. Gordon had the nickname "Flash," of course.
