Alert: Missing threads??

It has to do with the migration to the new forum software. If you don't see something you're used to seeing, apparently some stuff is still being imported.

As to why all the old threads started before 1/1/2012 are/were locked, hopefully someone has an answer to that.

I want to puke all over this new layout.

 

I (used to) like to see the poster's join date under their forum ID at the left. With all the BS on bs, its very important to recognize how serious the poster may be.

Now you get an alert.

 

Site sucks now, like TFC level of suckness.

 

I saw this thing today. The call it "outside" and there was this big yellow thing, and some wet things, I ran inside. To my surprise there was this thing called "family" upon entering my hovel. Please BS. I do not want to have to experience "outside" or "family" again.

 

Have other message forums went this route?

 

Yes. Pushed away a large number of long time users. Very hard transition. Still isn't the same. If you like simplicity, this is not the way to go. BS was simple, the threads/conversations dominated because it was a forum.

I rarely go to the other forum anymore (nonsoccer) in favor of another one that is less "facebook"

 

Is it to appeal to the younger generation?

Originally heard it was for $$$$. Had to go with a different company/server or whatever. The demographic and target market of the sight wasn't younger. It took a while for the site to even be usable and it has lost most of what made it special or quirky and enjoyable.

 

I wondered if it was a play to continue to keep relevant/hits coming this way - I wonder how many come when you synergize sites like this with FB/twitter/whateverspaceorfriends. They do that stuff on espn, cnn, yadda yadda... Like I want everyone in my friends list to know every story I read on espn. No.


Also - I do not want my aunts, childhood friends, and former professors to know when I am flaming a troll on BS. What happens when you link your FB to BS?

My understanding is that the old software was stretched to the point where is was becoming very buggy and not very nice to take care of. This design is supposed to be able to handle the enormous amount of traffic that the site receives much better.

It still sucks big floppy donkey.
