True I wouldnt mind skipping the stupid halftime stuff and I also tivo
d the games so that I would not have to watch all the stupid commercials but that point is I paid for live tv and I expect to get what I paid for. I would not have added the package if not for the MISL games I mean how many people on here added it just for that and how stupid do they look now. Why would the Commish do such a stupid thing as this for what, what is he getting from it thats what I want to know, when clearly it hurts the league and the fans.

    GO COUGARS!!

If I had ordered FSC just to get MISL games and had a more vested interest in a team this decision might bother me more but as it is yeah it sucks somewhat but at least I still get to see some games. I'm sure the time overages and the production values and had lot to do with it. Maybe FSC sweetend the deal for MISL and it was worth making the change to delayed broadcasts. I'm sure Kenn will hop on soon and give us what he can

I think it does,we will have to see what everyone else says.

Let me make sure about this,
is it 100% for sure that tomorrows game between the Storm and Blast will not be telivevised tomorrow? I would hate to not set the VCR and find out later that they decided to show it live afterall. The original link that was posted telling the story that Fox put out does not work.

It sucks majorly for us Cougars Fans more so than others.
We practically have no chance to go on road games on a frequent basis.

We had THREE LIVE road games come up and now they are canned 1 week delay crap.
Sure I'll still watch it, but what's the point of watching a game if you already know the score.

Live is Live mand this is total crap!

Ryan needs to get fired. Get someone in there who knows what he is doing.

I think the truth needs to come out more now then ever about this Steve Ryan character continously acting like the God of Indoor soccer and making decisions that hurt the league, the teams and overall the game.

Some serious action needs to be taken to remove this guy from the league and find a commish who actually does something good for the sport.

After last years last home game when Ryan came to Stockton I personally told him after Jim Rachels introduced him to me that they really ought to do something about the referee situation.

He looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about. And basically said, that there is nothing to do or if 'I would like to join and help the league' in that matter. What an answer is that? I am a paying fan and sponsor of the Cougars. It's not my job to run the league.

Maybe if the owners are so pissed off they'll break precedent and actually do something about it.

Seems to me the Cougar owners (who get he worst of the poor refing) are the only ones willing to open there mouths. As if everyone else is scared to say anything.

Maybe it's not so much that they are scared, but that they don;t have as much to complain ABOUT. It really seems more and more that there is a hidden agenda to kill the Cougars. Maybe they realized the travelling costs are too much or the stress of these insane schedules. Since I got involved with the Cougars through being a fan at first and then a sponsor and hardcore fan I have never seen so much damaging garbage coming from the league through ignorance or intent.

The scheduling could be so easily improved anyway.

Say the sharks play us twice in Stockton this year as are most teams.
First of all extend the schedule to 32 games. 2 each at home and on the road against every team.

Then the 2 road games can happen in ONE weekend.
The Sharks could come to Stockton on Thursday or so.
Then play us on Friday night and Sunday afternoon.

Instead of such insane non sense as to play on Friday night in Detroit and the next day at home in Stockton.

With some will and applied common sense a lot could be improved.

Or even play Saturday and Sunday 24 hours apart.

All the league need is some people with brains on the top.

Last weekend has clearly shown that the Refs have to be instructed to make bad calls.
A blocked shot on goal that bounces into the audience called an intentional clearance has to be the most obvious intentional bad call in league history!

Or what about the corner kick that resulted in a score for the Sharks that was shot into the audience by a sharks player with the closest Cougars 6-8 feet away??? How could a Cougar have deflected the ball being so far away???

    Wait

Lets think about this for a second. Why would Ryan do this?

I mean whats in it for him? Whats in it for MISL? I just don't think Fresh Money would want this. THere is no upside.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, the production of the tv event is a fixed cost, live or tape delay, with the exception of a satellite uplink? Kenn you are good at correcting when I'm wrong, help me out here, you are a tv guy.

If MISL is paying FSC for time its still a fixed cost. If it is a quid pro quo arrangement its still a fixed cost. Neither of which change whether live or tape delay.

The only thing that does make sense is if FSC puts up a fuss about MISL going into the 10pm slot and usurping their only production which is actually done by Fox Sports World Canada, the Fox Soccer Report.

I know someone said their dad talked to an owner and I'm not doubting that. But could someone lay out the rationale for this if it is a MISL decision. Doesn't make sense to me yet.

Well, I think that is THE PROBLEM with Ryan.
He does things that make no sense.
Like to ignore the obvious lack of quality referees.
There are several good ones, but some extremely bad ones continue to play their power games.

    Thanks,that link worked.

    This really sucks,
This bar and lounge I go to on Friday nights was going to put the game on all of their big screen TVs tomorrow and through the people who own this place we were able to get the word to about 50 other places of business and they were all going to put the game on and all of these places pack the people in.
    Way to go MISL !!!

I'm not going to correct you but merely throw out a counter theory...if the game's on tape delay...do you need the satellite uplink? I mean, could you not record the game locally and then just Fedex the tapes/discs/reels to FSC? I know this sounds awfully cable accessesque, but if you're losing money on the deal and maybe struggling to make payments to production companies, maybe losing the whole satellite uplink portion of the process provides a major cost savings?

I think you have it right. This way they can either get the buildings feed or send out a bare bones local crew, get the tape delivered and then cut the game down to time and bring in a PBP and color guy to do the announcing in studio. Saves all kinds of money and no worries about going long.

There is no conspiracy against the Cougars.

The league needs Rachels to head up MISL Mexican American marketing efforts. :D

Thats kind of what I'm saying. Thats why I said "with the exception of a satellite uplink" in my post. I know where your going and it makes sense, but a sat-link has different costs depending on when you are sending it and from where. But yes thats a good thought.

TV tape delayed costs about half the price of a live broadcast. Downside is, all 50 indoor soccer fans around the country that care that there is a game on don't get to see it live.

Upside, you can edit Dart McCarthy out of a broadcast.

Personally, I think you have to look at what the point of the broadcast is. Is it a professional sports event on FSC, or is it a 2 hour commercial for your product? I think it is the latter. When was the last time you saw a commercial live?

Don't get me wrong, I would love for people to actually care about the games, and all of us that actually do i think post on here. But we aren't enough to justify an additional $12,500 per broadcast.

From a fiscally responsibile standpoint, it should be tape delayed. I think the MISL should use the same model that the ECHL uses, charging a nominal fee for viewing the jumbotron feed over the internet. I know its not a perfect situation, but the real fans can pay their $5 and get to see the game.

That's a neat trick. On February 15th the Storm will be seen playing at home against New Jersey and an hour later they will be appearing in Stockton, CA live!
