We are fortunate and very excited to welcome our newest team in Wichita, a very strong indoor soccer market with a long record of success. This is only the start of a new revival for the MISL with more teams to be announced. I’m in various stages of discussions with investors in locations such in
    Minneapolis,
    St Louis,
    Detroit,
    Dallas,
    Harrisburg,
    Denver,
    Anaheim,
    Tacoma,
    Philadelphia,
    Rockford,
    NJ.
And our 2009-10 MISL Champion La RaZa de Monterrey have indicated a strong desire to return and play in the MISL following completion of repairs to their arena in Monterrey as well as nearing completion later this year to their newest arena in Mexico City.

This was from the MISL Facebook update.

You left out LI - it noted "LI and NJ." Assuming LI = Long Island.

It looks so awkward there, I think you are right.

With the financial issues with Omaha and Chicago this year it may be better not to get Anaheim, Denver or Dallas or get La Raza back next year because of travel expenses. Seems a bit cheaper to keep it to the Midwest, Northeastern area for now until the teams have established fan bases.

For the most part, these were the same markets in "discussions" with the MISL/NISL for the past few years.

There is still hope though, especially with adding a market like Wichita before the current season is even over. It can't get much worse unless the league drops down to 4 teams and has no championship, like the XSL.

If Harrisburg or Philly come in, you might as well count the other one in too.

If the dream scenario of all of these markets having teams for 2011-12 happens, here is how they can keep costs for travel down (mini divisions)

    Milwaukee Minneapolis Chicago Detroit

    Omaha Missouri St Louis
    Baltimore Harrisburg Philadelphia New Jersey
    Dallas, Monterrey Mexico City??

Denver, Anaheim, Tacoma probably won't happen unless the league can get San Diego or Stockton

First of all good luck in this, I really hope it works.

My fear is, for years we have been lucky to get anything for an expansion team. We've some borderline disasters (Massachusetts and Wichita) but always one or two come in and one or two leave.

Now all of a sudden (in this economy) we have 8-9 potential markets who seem to want into MISL all of a sudden. WHY?

Maybe its a good sales pitch........but Fresh Money was a good salesman too.
Maybe its a resurgence in the game............but we'd probably have noticed here a little earlier
Maybe its the game getting its house in order and people want in..........but we'd probably have noticed here a little earlier
Maybe its a combination of a number of things.............

My fear is, MISL is lowering the entrance standards to let in anyone. Raj Kalhra is one epic tale of reasons why not to do this. Anyone who has had the misfortune of casting an eye to the absolute debacle of the American Basketball Association, where Joe Newman lets in anyone (yes anyone) who promises to pay 10K will realize quickly that due diligence has a very needed spot in sports.

I just hope this is being done the right way, I want it to work.

I hope that's just a typo and you're not actually labeling Wichita a disaster already.

Other than Wichita this is still pretty much rumor and speculation. It's not the first time I've heard talk of massive expansion. For example, I can remember Hampton Roads being a sure thing with a coach allegedly all lined up.

Minnesota is a shoe in no??
and Riot are seriously looking at 2011 - 2012
Comets should be back - no worries there I do not think
all the rest - there is hope
and Omaha is a wait & see - looks glum but in this roller coaster ride who knows

I think Minnesota is far from a shoe in. The league hasn't announced anything about it. And I think the rest is speculation, some of which is getting pretty wild. I've heard this song and dance about massive expansion before. I hope the league is able to add a couple of decent franchises. Quality counts more than anything.

Great to hear the level of interest -- and with it, our incredible ARVID (combination of adamant and rabid) SPECULATION about what's to come in 2010-2011.

Let's hope the dominos continue to fall FAVORABLY between now and October.

I still maintain the three divsion format, with team PAIRED as travel partners (similar to PAC10 Basketball) makes the most fiscal sense.

    Can you just imagine?

    KENTLING CONFERENCE (6)
    Wichita & Dallas
    KC (Independence) & St. Louis
    Minneapolis & Omaha

    FOREMAN CONFERENCE (6)
    Milwaukee & Chicago
    Detroit & Cleveland
    Philly & Harrisburg

    HALE CONFERENCE (ALL HAIL HALE!)
    18-time champion BALTIMORE BLAST

OK, so 13 is a stretch (it's MY dream)... I would GLADLY settle for 8.
