FSW just updated their 2003 week#4 schedule to include an MISL Indoor Soccer Match on 1/24/2003 at 8:00pm EST. I'm hoping this mean FSW will start showing a match of the week.
NY Times reports today that FSW and the MISL have signed a two-year agreement to televise 10 games a year on tape delay. First up are Milwaukee and Cleveland on 1/31. This is quite a coup for the MISL.
Re: Re: MISL Indoor Soccer on FSW All it takes is a bit of research, my friend. From clevelandforce.com: 02/16/03 Sun 7:05 PM Force at Dallas on WUAB TV 03/01/03 Sat 2:00 PM Force at Milwaukee on WUAB TV 03/23/03 Sun 1:05 PM Force at Philadelphia on WUAB TV
Well, although it's nice that the league has a TV deal of some manner, it would have been nice if those retards in Westport would have gotten it on a channel which more than three percent of cable subscribers actually get.
you got that right. anybody know if it will be shown simultaneously with Fox sports World en espanol? I receive FSWE but not the regular fox sports world.
Has anyone confirmed this? There is no mention of a TV contract on the MISL website. Also, if it's Milwaukee and Cleveland on 1/31 tape delayed, when is the actual date of the game? I see that they played on 1/18. I can't imagine a 2 week delay.
Yeah, it's strange that nothing else has come of this since that blurb in the Times. Connoly touched on it on MLSnet, but he was probably just alluding to the mention in the NY Times. You would think MISL.net would have this news all over the home page. Hmm...we shall see.
It is odd that the league isn't promoting this coup of sorts...it is on the fox sports world site, and it's listed in my directv listings, so it must be really happening. Personally, it'll be great to see some games on tv, and even if it supposedly reaches "three percent", it's better than no percent. It's a start in reaching new fans.
First two matches on FSW 1/31 8:00pm est Cleveland at Milwaukee 2/7 8:00pm est Cleveland at Kansas City How delayed are these matches ?
http://www.misl.net/tvschedule/ cleveland - milwaukee is from SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14! Cleveland played at KC on Jan 11. don't know if that's the game they're showing, or if it's another one.
My God, a six week delay? Why not just go whole hog and bust out the tapes of Julie Veee, Branko Segota, and Brian Quinn facing off with Keith Furphy, Craig Allen, and John Stollmeyer? I think I've got a Minnesota Strikers game on tape somewhere if they want it. Lord. Oh, and the January 11th game is, in fact, the one that'll be shown February 7th.
No wonder misl.net doesn't publicize the TV games. They are too embarrassed. The schedule doesn't even indicate that the games are on FSW. I guess its better than nothing, Can't wait to see the rocket red ball again.
The first two matches on FSW are in fact replay's of the last two live matches from WUAB (Cleveland) Superstation. I'm wondering if FSW is simply replaying matches from local TV instead of producing their own ?
Watched the Milwaukee/Cleveland game. The production was pretty good. Now, if only it had been less than 6 weeks old....

FSW isn't producing any of this. It's a time buy by the MISL -- read "infomercial" -- and it's up to the MISL to provide the content. From what I've heard, they will indeed be relying on replayed local-TV matches.
OK...so whatr you're saying that two week old (or more) MISL informercials are better than nothing? I know the brain-deads in Westport think that airing these games are going to attract the "non-MISL fans", but is there any attraction for the "hard-core" indoor soccer fan? Nope. I know that according to the press releases, Steve "the Outhouse" Ryan is supposedly a great salesman and sports business mind, but when it comes to soccer, he wouldn't know s**t from oatmeal.
