Other births pertinent to those bands, but geographically separate: Joe Strummer - The Clash (Ankara, Turkey) Keith Moon - The Who (...Pluto)
Rs are trying to work some of the kinks out and get players like Martin Rowlands some minutes in a closed door match with West Ham today... http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~1370198,00.html QPR Squad: Crowther, Oastler, Stewart, Harris, Femy, Alberti, Rowlands, Bolder, Di Carmine, Ephraim, Rose, Bulmer, Flood, Arthur, Maguire, Nanetti, Ford.
Looks like a positive outing v West Ham today, drew 2-2... http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~1370609,00.html
The official site has always called Angelo Balanta a Colombian player. Now they report that he's on standby for the England U-19's. http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~1370762,00.html
Hmm - that's a pretty bold decision if it has indeed been made by Angelo. Although I guess he can switch to Colombia up to the point he becomes a senior international player.
Damian Delaney is on the bench for Ireland in their friendly with Norway. http://www.sportinglife.com/football/popup3/
No minutes for Damian tonight in Norway - looks like he's got a few guys in front of him in the pecking order. He could be a long term replacement for Stephen Kelly or Kevin Kilbane though.
The Guardian's Steve Claridge dedicated his Scouting Report column to Emmanuel Ledesma - pretty good read: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/sep/02/qpr.championship
Good news on the injury front... Akos Buzsacky could appear for the reserves today, he's on the bench. http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~1382670,00.html Now where would he play when he's ready for the first team??
Nice interview with Marcus Bignot following the Rs 4-3 win over his Millwall (reserves)... http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/sub/TVNews/0,,10373~1389519,00.html
Damion Stewart has been called up by Jamaica for their two October matches (against Mexico and Honduras) in the CONCACAF Group of Death. http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~1396170,00.html
The Independent has an article on Briatore. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/p...hat-really-drives-flavio-briatore-938708.html It includes:
Quick question, not sure if we have addressed it here before. Why is Balanta eligible to play for England? http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~1399852,00.html
Without knowing the full story of Angelo's background, I'm guessing that one of his parents qualifies for a UK passport. That would also explain why he was able to sign a youth contract with the Rs and stay without the restrictions that would normally be placed on a non-EU national (especially one under 18).
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...-for-championship-loan-spell-115875-20871091/ Various reports (the one above is from the Mirror) have had Michael Chopra going on loan from Sunderland with QPR a potential location. This report says he's likely to go to QPR or back to Cardiff "in a matter of days."
Press is now indicating that Chopra will return to Cardiff on loan and his first game will be against QPR. Cardiff "fought off stiff competition from QPR" they say. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...l-chopra-rejoins-cardiff-city-91466-22192809/
Adam Bolder has gone on loan to Millwall, initially for a month. http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~1444622,00.html
Angelo Balanta has gone on loan to Wycombe for two months. After one month, we can call him back with 24 hours notice. His loan runs through January 14th. http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~1453227,00.html
Hmmm - I find this a little odd with a player (though Buzz is not really a forward) now injured. I guess Agyemang's health and DiCarmine's emergence leave Angelo searching for some match time. Hope he bangs in a few for Wycombe (really nice move for them!)
Rowan Vine had additional surgery -- no estimated date for his return. I assume he's done for the season. http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~1453721,00.html
Damien Delaney is on the bench for Ireland tonight for their friendly v Poland. Maybe he'll get his first appearance in the second half...
Congrats to long-time QPR left back Gino Padula for earning an MLS Cup winner's medal yesterday (and, assuming that little one on his shoulder is his, congrats on the baby!).
I could have done without that hideous tackle. God, that was ugly. But sure, I'm happy for him, and for the Crew. And unlike you, Atouk, I can say that free of bias. I'm not a DCU fan, so I don't have your atavistic hatred of RedBullMetro.
